Default Best OTC Pain Killer?

Not sure if ive mention my situation in this section before, so ill tell the story again. I was involved in a serious car accident 2 years ago, and sustained major injuries to my left leg. \/\/ See X-Rays \/\/

I was wondering which OTC pain medicine would be best for bone and muscle pain related to these injuries, ive been on narcotic pain killers (perscription) before and I dont like the side effects. The current pain pill of choice is motrin (OTC dosage) , any suggestions?

There's alot of issues going on from the breaks (should be healed by now), soft tissue healing, and scar tissue forming. That being the case, there may not be "the best one" for you. In fact, I would talk it with your physician about possibly a combination of 2 that may work better for you.

Don't take them in full amounts either. You could also see which one seems to help better and stick with that one. If motrin does a decent job at giving relief stick with it.

In response to the Docs comment, yes it should be healed by now, but I have an MRSA infection hindering the bone regrowth, because of the foriegn body (aka metal rod) in my leg.
And ya Ibuprofen (motrin) does seem to work the best but I have to take large dosages to get any relief (like 800 mg sometimes).
My doctor says I have chronic Osteomyelitis and Osteonecrosis (the necrosis due to the blood supply to the ball of my hip being hindered). I will most likely have to have a hip replacement by the time im 25.

I know I take approx. 800mg of Ib P every 4-6 hours for my back and my neurologists almost had a heart attack because of poosible liver damage. Which I knew was a consequence but whatever. So keep that in mind, your liver, kidneys, ect. I assume you have an orthopdic doctor or surgeon you can consult and discuss this with? That would be your best bet. If you do not like that medications you are on it can bechanged. What did you have vicodine? Try Lorecete (perscription) etc.....

Ibuprofin is also a blood thinner so you might want to pay attention to that especially if you take an asprin a day like I do. Low dose asprin for blood thinning reasons due to the greenville filter (for blood clots) in my main lower extremity vein.
