Default I think I sprained my wrist.

I fell on the icy road in front of work today, and now my wrist really hurts. I kinda landed on my hand, but it didnt hurt after I did it. It only started hurting like an hour ago, 4-5 hours after my fall. I know, I know, "go to the doctors" but right now I cant afford it ive got to get groceries and ive got bills to pay.

Put an ace bandage around it, take some tylenol/asprin and see how it feels in a couple days. If it's swollen, its probably broken and then you should see a doctor. Wish you the best man...

although heat will encourage any possible swelling...

I'd suggest keeping it in a rather warm (close to hottest what you can stand for 10 minutes) bath for a while until pain lessens, than dry and wrap with support immediately.

You won't get flexability right away but it will relieve pain and potentially any soft tissue tension created by the weather outdoors this week.

but then I always use heat, even when the situation occasionally calls for ice.

also: the 8" I got on Sun. night is more than my area usually gets for a winter put together so it's really not this bad here usually.

With just about any injury. You are to ice it within the first 24-36 hours. 20 minutes applying ice and 1 hour off. Since it's your hand and if it happens to go numb while using ice stop for one hour and apply ice again until numb or 20 minute.

If you put heat on a recent injury it will encourage more swelling. You don't want more swelling and it will prolong healing time.

There is the possibility you might have fractured a bone in your wrist the most common one fractured is your scaphoid.

The only sure way to tell if it's sprained or not is to have a friend pull on it with force. Only joking, don't do that haha

as the doc said just ice it and take some Ib P. That will help reduce swelling and releive pain. Iceing it will also releive the pain. Then if it bothers you at work wrap it in an ace bandage.
