Default Headaches

For the past week and a half or so, I have been getting dull, sort of throbbing headaches behind my ears (picture attached); mainly on the right side and mainly only on one side at a time. It makes my right eye hurt a little too. I take tylenol for them and they go away for a bit, but then they come right back. Also, I have been having a similar dull pain at the base of my skull, but that is less often.

I have been under a bit of stress lately, but I don't remember getting this under stress before. I wanted to know if it's anything I should be worried about.

I know it's not a migraine because I get those once in a while. Migraines are TONS worse than the pain I'm feeling (I lose eyesight and ability to speak correctly).

Sounds like a stress related headache. It could be coming from a mechanical deficit in your neck (meaning the joints aren't moving right). Getting your neck checked by a chiropractor should be very helpful.

I got rear ended last January and was seeing a chiropractor, but was leaving with a headache and neckache everytime I went and saw him so I stopped going. Maybe I need to go back and see a physical therapist.

I get those sometimes, usually after I sleep with my neck at a weird angle for a few nights.

Try a different chiropractor. If that doesn't help then by all means see a PT.

Also, look for a trigger point in your trapezius muscles. It'll feel like a very tender knot in the muscle. Apply steady (fairly hard) pressure until the muscle relaxes. Kind of like a Vulcan death grip. It will hurt a whole lot but if you get it to relax it will be worth it in the end. My wife has extreme problems with headaches in the same locations and releasing the trigger points helps her immensely.

Or you could shoot her. But then that would cause problems for you and extreme pain on a portion of your body that you dont want to have pain at, J/K.

Back on topic ya, pressure (trigger) points can help to relieve the pain but alot of the time its a temporary solution to a much more serious problem, when is the last time Stacy had her neck/back adjusted by a chiropracter? I used to have severe neck problems (stress related, and hereditary issues from my moms side of the family, they all have bad necks and migraines) and saw a chiropracter every 3 months, and it did seem to help. Ever since my accident though I havent had any major neck problems, which is weird cause I got serious whiplash and couldnt move my neck for like 2 weeks. But ya Jared go to the chiropracter and get adjusted again it may help, if it doesnt go to the docters and get some x-rays done (chiropracter may take x-rays as well) to check for more serious issues then disc alignment, hope ya feel better until then excedrin is your friend.
