so i have been working out at a gym for about 1 year now and i am seeing results. i went from 225 to under 200. at the recommendation of the trainer, i started taking a 100% whey protein mix every morning before my workout. Its berry flavor, so i usually mix it with water. Recently, I have seen a lot of people mixing protein mixes with this new vitamin water. My question is this: i know that the vitamin water has like 120 calories per bottle, but if i only drink 1 a day w/my protein mix in the morning before my workout, would it help or hurt, considering mixing it with water is no extra calories? plus it will probably taste a lot better....thanks

try it, and monitor your results. if you like what you're getting, keep at it. if you don't like it, or don't perceive any useful benefit- cut it out.
i promise you the things i do at the gym are a result of finally ignoring a majority of everyone elses advice because it doesnt work for me. i dont like the fact that sometimes i feel like ive wasted so much time at the gym, but im glad i have that experience now and can move forward.
i weighed 135 for about 8 years straight, in the military, and never really improved my physical fitness level. in fact i think i lost some from when i was in high school, as a result of discontinued martial arts and weight training. since i've been out, im up to 160 at about 15% body fat (yeah im a tubby son of a bitch). so the common military training failed me, and my coworkers supplement-guidance failed me.
granted, there have been a lot of strides in the supplement industry compared to 10+ years ago and we're all better for it. btw, if you buy a lot of them, PM me I have a website that saves me sometimes 50% of the cost of GNC and i dont work for them but it sounds too spammish for me to put it here and i dont want to piss anyone off. shipping is low as shit too.
i am on hydroxycut, eat only salads / fruit, and take about 8 protein shakes a day (5 oz), and really if im out with friends or out at the club i eat whatever i feel like. for the most part, i've cut soda out completely- not because i think it's a really cool idea, but because i genuinely want to, which always makes the difference.
good luck, and never stop experimenting with new ideas. there is no such thing as completion in life, always evolving and moving forward.

What you're doing is already working. What benefits do you perceive you're going to get from the high calorie vitamin water. If it contains corn syrup as it's sugar source, you might as well take a multivitamin with a soda (I don't recommend soda to anyone that wants to be physically fit).
I agree with rbueker as well as he has some good points. I don't take any form of protein supplement or fat burners or anything else. I do supplement with the right things for my joints, my bones, and the rest of my body. However, It's through exercise and eating the right foods that has given me the best benefits.
I am excited to see more people on this forums and places I travel too exercising and taking action to be healthier and I'm happy for all those who do, keep it up.

well, with regards to drinking soda, i have another question about that. i used to drink a lot of soda every day, but since have cut that out. I found a diet soda at the foodstore that actually has 0 calories and 0 sodium...should i drink this or still just cut out all forms of soda? With regards to my results, i kind of peaked and havent seen any results since about april, so that is why i wanted to possibly try shakes or mixes. i never drank vitamin water unless i was craving soda and wanted something a little better, but now i am thinking of just cutting out the protein drinks and mixes all together.

the idea with soda is that the white refined sugar and excess caffeine kills your energy levels, not so much the calories or sodium. i used to laugh at the sodium levels as i ate ramen and chef boyardee, 1400 mg.. geeze.
Are you gaining or cutting right now? I used to lift a lot throughout High School and in College, I just didn't have time. I used a lot of Creatine, HGH, Nitroglycerine and Whey Protein. The creatine kinda... made me feel like I was cheatting cause it pumps you up and inflates you, but with water xP
If you're trying to cut down, take Hydroxycut but the stuff w/out effedrine. It works, but while you're taking it, kinda tone down from physical sports because it made me really violent during football... But that was a good sport to be violent in *^^*
Vitamin water shouldn't be too bad... A couple hundred extra calories isn't going to hurt your diet regime unless you drink like 5 a day. Just do your cardio twice a day and that should make up for it.
why not save yourself $5 a day and skip the vitamin water. i've a feeling people take it because it sounds healthy and they think there will be some added benefit of using it with protein. like the others said, if you want nutrients, but a $10 bottle of like 250 centrum tablets. i used creatin like howie and although it does cause you to store water, i found it gave me a big enough boost to get back into working out and being in shape. i did it for maybe a month and have been off it for about 3 now. since then i've increased my bench by about 55lbs, maintained the same body weight, and lost a lot of fat.
just don't take it too long or your kidneys will be feeling it in a few years.
but enough about trying to bulk since i'm not even sure if that's what you want. i'd vote for skipping the vitamin water because i think that for the money you'd be spending, you'd gain so very little.
if you're talking about the vitamin water from GLACEAU,
it's main ingredients are,
vapor distilled or microfitered water, crystalline fructose,
various juice concentrates from different fruits,
small percentage of vegatable juice for coloring,
and vitamins,
gatorade is not a health drink, it's got gob's of corn syrup and ton's of sodium,
it's not something we should drink like water.
go easy on the gatorade as the color dye's will affect what you see in the toilet.
I've been drinkin vitamin water for week's and i feel better, i sleep better and don't have a minor aching spot in my abdominal when i wake up in the morning.
my urine is also close to clear..
and unlike idiots who chug 1 gallon size big gulp's everyday..i don't get diharrea.

Centrum products aren't necessarily good for the body. One of the most inefficient forms of vitamins and minerals supplements ever made. You are further ahead crushing them up, mixing with water, and giving to your plants as they can get more nutrition out of Centrum than we can.
Centrum puts there money into marketing and not into the product itself. I have a list of what should be in a multivitamin, it's posted on my site. Most people don't take the time to read it, yet send me links to multivitamins they feel are the best, and they don't come near what should be in one.
If you're going to take a multivitamin one of the best is Ultrapreventative III from Douglas Labs. Do a search and you can find it anywhere on the net. Feel free to look around to find the best prices. You'll see them on my site as well. I've not pushed the supplements I use, my patients use, and my family use on this site to HP.com members. I'm here to help answer questions and have done so for the past 5 years. Find the best prices and buy that multivitamin (your further ahead giving your plants what you're currently taking).
Avoid soda's as much as you can. The phosphate's in them leech calcium from the blood which in turn pulls the calcium from bones = weak bones/brittle bones. That is another reason to avoid soda's.
