Well, now that I've replaced my motor with another 1.5 and I have a working car again, it's time to start dreaming big and making plans again. I've got the tib motor sitting in my garage to be worked on this summer, but I wanted to ask a question about the mounts. So far it looks like I can keep all the mounts the same except for the passenger's side, where a modified tiburon mount could be used. Is this the story, or do all of hte mounts need to be re-worked? Just thought I'd ask since I'm talking to some local shops about being able to make me the new passenger side mount for me, and I'd love to get an aproximate quote. I'd LOVE to be able to take care of the mounts myself, but I have no clue as to what's happening with them, and I don't want to mess anything up. Just looking for a final definitive answer. Any help you could offer would be great. Thank you.

Yeah, I'm looking at doing the same thing to my Accent. I'm hearing a lot of different things about doing it. I would like to get my hands on a 1.8L beta engine and still be able to use my stock tranny. How well do the two match up? How much has to go into that passenger side mount too? And if I do end up doing the engine swap what other mods do i have to do? ive heard of things like cutting down the axel, but is that only if i want to use the Tibby transmission? After its all set am i going to have to chage the computer on my car or is that all set? One more question, im planning on picking up an engine from a local junkyard. I was wondering if all i needed was the engine block or all the mannifolds and wireing to go with it.

thanks

This one is for you, Kemper180! Try using the search and there's lots you can find...Like this:

http://hyundaiperformance.com/forums/topic.php?t=30368&p=1

Luckily, for you, the swap is a bit easier. I believe you can retain all of your mounts, including the passenger side one, but it's going to be a very tight squeeze. You'll need everything from the Beta engine, there isn't really anything that carries over. Just take a look at that post and read through the Hybrid forum and I think it should answer most of your questions. Good luck!

Did you make ALL of them work with your 98? Even the passenger side? That one's supposed to be the headache...If you've done it, send me an email or something. Us people who are doing this need to stay close and support one another.
