Nope, it won't fit. They both sit on opposite sides of the engine bay. It'd be A LOT more trouble than it's worth.

Get a Tib engine

You can get an engine, Tranny, and ECU for around $1000

According to a reliable source at Apex. They are dropping a 2.4L Sonata engine in 97 Accent.

Now this interests me! Can you please let me know if your reliable source is able to produce evidence and run down on doing this.
Thanks.

the sonata 2.4L I-4 sucks balls. It only has 10 More HP and torque than the Beta 2.0L in elantras and Tiburons. There is NO aftermarket support for the 2.4L but there is for the 2.0L.

Also, the 2.0L into an accent is a common swap, but the 2.4L is not.

Go with the 2.0L if you plan on doing any modifications to the engine after the swap.

Leave it to Random to Needlessly complicate things.

Here's a project being done by our same representative in South Africa that wrote the how to on the Beta swap:

quote:
have built an oval track car with a 2.4 16valve sonata engine in it.(this is my real passion).
I took a 2.0 L sonata engine , took out the 2.0 L crank & replaced it with a 2.4 hyundai crank(some old sonata`s came out with a 2.4 12 valve eng.)I used 86mm forged pistons out of what we call a opel(GM) 2.0 L 16 valve engine. The 2.4 crank has 6mm longer stroke than th 2.0L eng. With the 2.4 crank in the 2.0L block the std. pistons protrude 6mm(but the GM pistons are 6mm shorter & half the weight.

OK Ricochet, although the Sonata 2.0 litre with the short stroke was my interest what am I able to do in regards to the bore and stroke of the Beta engine? i.e. how wide a bore, how long.short a stroke? And as always what are the valve sizes please?

Hooray,

Random, you no anything about the crank from the 2.4 ltr fitting in the 2ltr? What would be the advantage of doing that kind of swap? From what that stated it sounds to me that you simply end up with lighter pistons but other than that. I am confused and excited damn it's like puberty.
