edit: having tibby 2,0L engine in the hood is fun i spanked a tibby 2,0L on my accent well spank is maybe strong word.. i won him through 1 and 2 gear and 3 he was no more  but get yourself a tibby gearbox.. the accent before new model have gearbox that are build on colt ´86 blueprint and their gearbox are trouble... mine broke then i was cruizing on 80 km/h and just driving up a hill = no speeding or shifting , the car just slow down and nothing happen in gear thing :hmmm: , every part was broken (2 months after i add tibby motor to my accent)

Can these engines be procured through the dealership at a 'relatively' low cost, under 5k or so? I'm not really a big e-bay fan.

Brand new Engine from teh dealer will cost you 3k but i am not sure if that is with tranny or not and if not price will not go over 4k so it is in price range you wanted(not to exceed 5k)

from wath i was told by ppl that have done the swap 2 our of three do not need to be modified(front engine mount and drivers side. but passenger side mount needs to me modified or costum made.
another thing. i dont think anyone has mentioned that 1.5L alphas come with both Dohc/SOHc if iam not mistanken 97 GT accent has 1.5 Dual overhead cam.
also Beta 2(01 elantra+ and 03tib+) engines are not only different cam profile but they are also MAP based, so as current 1.6 DOHC Alpha2 which comes in 01+LCs and LC2s
(all other accents are MAF based including 1.5 DOHC alpha2 from first gen accents)

n/a eclipses are powered by a chrysler based 420A motor with a mitsu designed head(this is the motor found in the 95-99 neon but with a chrysler head)
the na 4cyl mitsu in hyundais is the 2.4l 4g64 this is the same motor in the eclipse spyder/chrysler sebring
as far as i know if they never brought a non turbo 4g63 over here and i may be wrong but i dont think tha exsists?
ps: what can be swapped into an x1 excel?
thanks

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Wrong! 2nd gen N/A DSM's share a 100% Chrylser designed a420 DOHC engine with the Neon. If anything the head is more like the Lotus designed cylinder head Dodge offered on the 224hp Turbo 3 Spirit R/T

Don't guess at it, you would be all over me if I got somebody about Hyundais wrong...

Suggestions Welcome, but I'll got something BIG in mind for 2004...
eh... wrong for both of you.. I used to own a 2nd gen RS eclipse..
here you go, for the 2nd gen (95-99) eclipses
RS & GS had a 2.0L chrystler 420a
GS Spyder had a non-turbo 4g64 2.4l motor
GS-T, GS-X and GS-T Spyder had a 4G63-t
I know for a fact that the GS Spyder is the oddball.. it does NOT have the 420a in it. There were several aftermarket turbo's (hahn racecraft, star performance) for the RS and GS but they would NOT fit on the GS Spyder.
