i'm planning on puttning a 2.0 beta in a 2002 accent. i have the 1.6 now but i want the 2.0 for the turbo in the future. what i want to know is how much will i spend, what year will be the best to chose from. plus i need a complete list of parts i will need to do the job right!

yeah its easier well from what i hear anyways but i have a 2002 accent GL and a beta motor in my garage and the motor mounts and axles SEEM TO all line up. you just need the whole ECU and wiring assembly. and motor mounts from the beta. ive got teh beta tranny working on the 1.6 so unless teh motor shifts the position of teh entire drivetrain and engine it shouldnt be a problem. dont ask me why but i have everything and im not doing a beta swap. i gave my motor to my friend i think taht was a mistake :dead:

thanks, so the beta should line right up with the trannie from the 1.6. that would be great! what about the axles will they be ok to, and what about the ecu? what do i need to get? plus do i need to get any other parts for the engine to work right because of the bigger engine?

You can use the accent tranny and accent axles together, but they probably won't take alot of abuse. Tib or elantra axles (shortened) w/ matching tranny is the way to go.
just a few guesses; but i think the accent axles would take about 200+wheel tq to break. and the tranny's weak spot is probably the differential and that should hold at least 160+ wheel tq. a stock beta shouldnt be a problem but you will have to deal with wiring.
good luck.

You should buy a beta2 tibby engine. They fit easier in your engine. You'll need to replace some mountings to the the motor fit under the hood and also alot of work on the wirings on the electronics. Using a beta1 engine would be harder for you.
You can keep the air conditionning and the power steering.
