Default V6 2.7L 2001 Tiburon SE

I am sure this has been discussed before but a search yielded no results. So I am at the local wrecking shop two days ago looking for some parts for the tib. I pass a V6 2.7L already out of a new tiburon, in the back. Its not that big at all I comment to the parts guy as hes leading me back, he says yah we have already swapped a V6 in for another guy that wanted one in his 03 Tiburon. I said yeah it was an option on the 03's. I commented it would be nice to be able to do that on my 01, and he said he didnt think it would be a problem. Interested I continued, what about the measurments?

So he got into it, we measured my engine bay, the GS-R axles, V6 engine width and tranny. My engine bay is about 2"'s smaller then the 03 Tiburon's. But he says if I reuse my old rad, it shouldnt be a problem, might have to modify the rad fan. As for the mounts he figures he can custom mount in the GS-R engine mounts, welding them to the frame. I can get the engine, ecu and tranny for $1300 Cdn, and he figures about 10 hours labour to do the swap. I could then sell my old engine and tranny etc to help pay for the swap. However has anyone done this before?

I had heard it had been done before but didnt know who did it?

Opinions?

-Steve
