Default beta ECU

im going to be buying the beta pretty soon, can i pull an ecu out of any of the beta series tibs or does the ecu need to be for that specific motor? i was looking through the shopping list thing, do i need to buy a wiring harness? if so where can i find one?

you only need to make sure the 2.0L ecu is in the 2.0L engine

and the 1.8L ecu is for the 1.8L.

Also if you end up with the Beta 2 which has the map sensor, you need the Beta 2 map sensor ecu.

And the same for if it is a Beta 1 with the MAFS sensor.

Wiring? You only need if you plan on hooking up the ecu to the engine :P

whats your personal opinion....beta1 or beta2? i would like to go with the MAP but i read somewhere the MAF is more accurate or whatnot once you get into more tuning.

Well...depends on your setup.

I prefer the BETA 1 engine. But the Beta 2 ecu is probbaly better for n/a

This would eninge being a hybrid, since you would have a beta 1 engine, with beta 2 manifold and TB and map sensor.

and ecu.

could be wrong, but if you're swappin the tranny too into an LC accent, it seems that a beta2 is the way to go because it'll be an easier/more compatible instal.

the beta1 and x3 accent have the same type of single center support under the engine/tranny.

the beta2 and LC accent have a 4 sided cradle/subframe that the engine/tranny sits in.

at least that's what it looks like from the webtech pics i looked at.

EDIT: i've heard some states allow engine swaps provided the engine isn't older than the car, so you could only swap in a 2001+ engine. don't know if this applies in florida.

2000- 2002 LC accent:

2001-2003 elantra:

sure looks similar to me. actually i just noticed the 2 pics are exactly the same pic. both the LC and elantra webtech pics link into the same url. an 01 elantra might be the way to go.

just dawned on me i might have wandered off topic. sorry :dead:

picture usefull?

not really.

as for compatible?

not really again.

since all the motor mounts from the BETA 1 and 2 have the same boltnig points on the engine and tranny. You just need to use the right mount for the right type of support.

also.

Yes...you can legally swap a engine if its the same year or higher.

as long as you do it all
EXHAUST
ECU
INTAKE
every little nitty bit of it.

will most ppl do that no?

why does BETA 2 suck?

You get to adjust shims every 20k miles
