My LC beta swap diary UPDATED!! (56k warning)

there is 1 minor thing wrong with this post.... the driver side mount that goes on the transmission does not use the tib mount along with the accent roll stop.... use the 1.5 mount and 1.5 roll stop. there is no way in hell the tib mount could be used after the swap drerob and i did tonite. from 2 other swaps posts we saw tonite they both used the 1.5 trans mount. small typo not a biggie just lookin out for you other guys that want to do the swap in the fiture

Hi every one. I have a question I have an 97 Elantra GLS (it is 1.8L), with high compresion pintons with a 98 std. trans of tib on it and a lot of other things (see my profile please) and I want to know if I can swap it to a Accent 2000 and what model will be better!! :

Can we get those red x's fixed so we can see the original swap pictures?

Also, Is there any reason why I cannot do the following in my 00 Accent:

Stock ecu- using Apexi Afc to correct it
(1.5)L
Stock 1.5L harness, just spicing the wires with marretes and eliminating the differenct connectors anyways.

pretty sure you can't because the 1.5 ecm is for SOHC. you need either the 1.6L or the beta ecm since they are for DOHC.

So I need to change both ecu and harness to 1.6l or the Beta harness?

thats the easiest way. some people just modify the 1.5 harness to work with the beta ecm. i have no idea how to do that though.

Well, I will log into the factory information network, and look up the 1.5l ecu pinouts and see what needs to be done. If I just need to swap a few pins and run 2 or three new wires and some misc sensors I would much rather do that then rip out the whole harness.

if i swap a beta 1 engine with maf in a 2001 accent 1.5L what do i need to modifie on the engine wiring harness ? Basically the engine is install and what is left do to is the engine wiring so some help would be awsome!!!

Whats funny about this is that im in the prosses of doing a Beta to Lc swap and my car has A/c the beta engine i got had A/c Using the Beta compressor with stock everything else it works fine.

Im just about to buy an engine within the next week or two. I orginally wanted the 2.0. But there is a 2000 elantra here in the junkyard, now doesnt that have the 1.8? or the 2.0? Which one will be easier to swap? I have the 1.6 DOHC motor currently in my Accent (2001)
