I had a turbo car with a maf and i couldnt turn the boost up much cause it would over load it i know with a safc i can tune it to only see the max reading and i think map works pretty much the same way just tune it to read what the comp whants it to see. I have been interesting the map sensor version because i wouldnt have to fight with the maf when designing and intake but that is trivial. I will incestigate more. The other thing is the sds system i will eventually go with is a map based system. And for those of you no familiar with sds my friend races it and absolutely loves it. I have heard manyother praises about this "cheap" system. Is there a difference in output between the beta 1 and beta 2 engines.
alright i've done some searches can't find anything ..........i've got a 97 GT with dohc .... can you swap some internals to make it larger ... say 1.8 or 2.0?
p.s. .... i'm a newb be nice and don't use big words

only with substantial modifications can you do this. 1.5L has a smaller bore and stroke than does the beta. why dont you just swap it if you want a bigger motor, much cheaper:smoking:

yeah me too. i have never heard of that. i'm doing the swap soon and i have to use a 2k1 or up BETA or i won't pass emissions, so all info is appreciated.

only beta 2 equipped cars have this immobilizer system. Many other cars have this system as well. My friends mitsu eclipse has it. the accent however, does not have this system (although it is now standard on all 03+ accents). basically it is really hard to pass emissions. to pass, you have to use the harness, and ecm of the donor car. This cannot be done because of the engine immobilizer. the way to run it is off of a 1.6L dohc alpha III ecm and harness and sensors. then just piggyback it and make the adjustments. The best way to do it is to use a Beta I off of a 01 tib , but even then every minute emmisions detail must be dealt with in order to pass but yea.

From what i read you can use a beta II you would need to use the beta 2 engine and ecu and use the accent wiring harness (change wires around till it work ) I know the on person has already done this and i will be doing it shortly i think ill keep you posted
the ecm is where the problem is.
The Immobilizer Control System (ICS) is an anti-theft device that enables starting to be possible only when the mechnical and wireless secret code (memorized in the ECM and SMARTRA), are aligned simultaneously. The transponder (built -in the ignition key head) sends a unique frequency code signal to the SMARTRA (SMARt TRansponder Antenna).
The SMARTRA compares the received signal with the memorized code and communicates with the ECM, controls the engine management system through fuel injection control, via a dedicated communication line. When the code is aligned, the ECM sends a starting signal and the engine starts.:smoking:

hrmmm it does seem like a real problem. Have you looked into weather or not the canadian beta II has the immobilizer system cause i was checking out mad gsi's swap and he said he used a beta II with a a beta II ecu and the accent harness. And it worked for him. mabey you could look into that if there is still a need sounds like you already got yours all set up good luck
I want pics of where the a/c components are suppsoed to be, i.e. in the pass rear side of the engine, as well as the passenger front area where the power steering lines and a/c shit went.
Curiousity ownz me.
