Well my 2000 accent L is going to be in for the beta swap next week on monday. I got the engine from http://www.allhyundaiisuzuparts.com/ I am using the Beta II from a 2001 elantra 5spd, along with the entire ecu harness, ecu. I got all of this for 1500 dollars and the entire driveline only has 1k on it!! I will have pics( my digi cam took a **it on itself ) of it and will describe as much of the process as I can for you guys. I do however have some info that the mad mechanic and I have been able to find out:
MOUNTS: On my 2000, we are going to use a combination of the stock accent brackets, and the betas roll stoppers. We will be redrilling the holes on the brackets to accomodate for this. all the mounts are in the exact same location.
AXLES: I will be reusing my stock accent axles. You may opt for the shortened tib axles, or strenghening the stock ones. But me, i just dont care if they pop i will just buy another one.
ECU: I will be using the computer off of a 2001 elantra. My solution for the wiring is just to rip the entire accent ecu harness out, and swap in the 2001 elantra harness. the engine runs on a completely separate circuit than the rest of the car so this should work. By the way my car is MAF based and the BEta that i have is MAP based, hence the wriring swap.
Tranny: The tranny has the same shift control as the accent, which is why an elantra short shifter will fit on the Accent. The only difference is the hydraulic line will have to be re-routed to accomodate the beta tranny.
Any new information that I get during the proccess of the swap will be posted along with pics.

I have a question.
Which models of elantra can be used for this swap? Can you use the engine from
the GT, or is that the same engine as the others. I though it was about +20hp

There is no difference in hp
You can use any 1996 - present or any 4 cyl Tib engine (including present)
The only difference other then some are 1.8 and some are 2.0 ltrs are the 2001+ Elantras and the 2003 Tibs use the Beta2 but it will still bolt in the same and have the same hp.
There are some difference between the Beta and Beta2 and if you do a search you will find them.

There is a replacement for displacement. It is on 2 wheels and 600cc.
damn, the mount points are in the same locations? geez.....that makes life convenient :
when this documentation is finished....i might just save it as a word document so that one day, down the line, if my engine dies and the car is paid off.....oh, i guess a 3K loan is still cheaper than a new car payment..... someday..........maybe.........<drifts off into daydream>X)

Whatever you do, take care of your shoes
it is actually a fairly straightforward swap. My engine is already in, axles and all. but dont get a 01 beta motor (beta II). the immobilizer system will make your life a living hell as it will not start. get a 00 beta I (MAF).
