Default overheating????

so i got around to driving my accent today, and after like five min of driving the guage reads that its overheating(red zone). I stop, pop the hood and nothing seems like its burning. Plenty of coolant, radiator working, no leaks or anything. Does anyone have any suggestions?

p.s. i have a 00 accent L with a Beta II engine, 1.6 alpha harness/ecm.

Or i have been told... Is to get a bigger radiator... That will suit with the engine.. Just a guess from the top of my head... Or maybe the coolant is blocked somewhere in the radiator piping or not even goin through the radiator

which temperature senders are you using?

there are two.
the big one should be from the same engine as the ecu
the little one should be from the engine that matches the dash (i.e stock)

You really should get a radiator from a 1.6 the 1.5 radiator is half the size of the 1.6 radiator. Could be and incorrect sensor reading but it doesnt have to boil to over heat. The idea is if you shut your car down as soon as it gets that hot then you should be fine. change your radiotor would be my opinion

he is right if you are using the stock 1.5 half-size radiator and stock fans it is more than likely not enough to keep the beta cool. i didnt notice you had the 'L' model i was thinking you had the full size radiator, that might cut it or at least help a LOT but that lil oil cooler they call a radiator aint crap :lol:gre:

I am using the stock beta II sensor located on the outlet hose to the radiator (top). Didnt know they had another sensor. I was thinking i need a bigger radiator but on my friends civic he has a gsr 1.8 L swap and is using a cx radiator (about the same size as mine) with no problem, and he beats the crap out his civic. maybe ill hook up the fan so that its always on as long is the motor is on:ermm:

yea his is about the same size but it if you look at a prelude 2.2 radiator ist about the same size 2. the differance is the number of rows wereas you accent is probaly a 2 row and the honda is probably a 3 row just get a radiator from a 1.6 liter accent its twice yes twice the size and just keep the single fan. That will help alot.
