Default 4g63t Lc accent (serious project)

I am going to start a 4g63t awd conversion in my 01 hyundai accent 01. Details later. I have already an awd system from a 95 eagle talon bought at an extremely fair price :bandit: The start of my project will consist of a gen 1 elctrical harness and stock ecu and injectors. Hopefully about mid winter the car will emerge a running 4g63t powered fwd vehicle. once that feat has been accomplished it will be off to the back side. I have been planning this for a while (really planning not dreaming) but the outcome remains to be seen. My mint 01 accent with about 30k miles on it is going under the knife soon wish me luck. Any good dsm info would be great (i know its a hyundai board), i have compiled alot of it but im sure there is more out there than i can find. Please dont come in here and say beta will be cheaper, I dont care, there ya go, i realize beta will be cheaper but beta doesnt really have a fairly affordable awd option nor does it have nearly the aftermarket support needed to achieve the numbers i will be seeing. I expect this to be an ongoing project for the next 2 years. Hopefully withing 1 it will be up and running in awd mode. We shall see. I will be doing this in the most cost efficient way possible and may offer to perform or provide people with info that want to takle the swap. The very least that will come from this would be a bolt in kit for the 4g63 in an lc accent. Any ways as i said any words of encouragment (good places to buy used dsm part local to the north east united states would be good) Many more details and updates to come.

You must have some pretty good fabrication skills (or a lot of confidence!)to undertake a project of this magnitude - especially on a rather new car like an '01. Be sure to document as much of it as possible.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I dont think this will be an easy project but i dont see it being a terrible project either. Seriously when you think about it. The motor has enough room to fit in the engine bay and the tail shaft lines up with the tunnel, and the drive shaft fits in the tunnel with no cutting. When you look at it like that, the most complicated part should be the rear end, as it will require a complete change out of all the rear components. Ill probably use the complete rear end from the talon. (i may need to cut the axles among other things. But anyways my initial goal is to get the motor in and running in fwd mode. then ill wrry about the back. Even if i accomplish that it will be sick, at 200 plus horse power and 200 plus touque i think it will move along nicely. I dont see this as a major production. I see this as needing to fabricate some motor mounts, and some axles, and then installing a custom intercooler with pipeing and hooking up all the essentials such as the coolant system, clutch system, and intially all engine control will be handled by the stock eclipse/talon ecu and wiring. It will probably be a month or so of working after work on it but it will be well worth it and dont worry it will be well documeted. I want to have no questions unanswered when i am completed. Again thanks for the info and one more question. Do you know what happened to dsm.org. there are a ton of these guys locally i have talked to them before but the site seems to be nonfunctional did the move? thanks.

Ok now i am working on locating an engine to put in the vehicle. I have sold one of my other cars (hasnt been paid for yet) and they guy is supposed to pick it up soon. Soon as he does i will have all the necessery funds to purchase the parts needed to perform the initial fwd 4g63t transplant. I am going to start buy putting a gen 1 6 bolt engine and 4wd transmission in the vehicle in fwd configuration only. (awd will com later) Currnently my only concern about fitment is exhaust. I am wondering were the hell its gonna go :-D and once the awd system is installed i will have to install a fuel cell simultaniously. THats when ish starts gettting serious. Hopefully by next week i will have the wiring harnes from a gen 2 awd turbo eclipse all set and have a planned route for it. I also have my peepers on an ecu from the same vehicle. We shall see. I am gonna take the little accent to the auto-x tomorrow should be fun. Though it is serverly underpowered. Ahh well im done with my rant. I will post again once i have the engine and tranny. STill trying to decide if i should rush and purchase the awd system i have lined up or hold off till i get the car all set in fwd mode. I think the later would be smarter dont want this to overwhelm me. Mentally or financially. Any who just thought id give a small update.
