Maybe Wytch should stop telling people about Shad's ideas. gre:
And by the way, I'm going to be doing that, but your Sonata tranny should be able to hold up well for boosting.

...I think it time to blow this scene...get everybody and their stuff together. Ok, 3, 2, 1, let's jam!...
well it makes a lot of sense 2.4l of displacement would be nice to boost... and as long as the tranny doesn't blow to hell it should be a strong motor...is it aluminum or iron block?
stock compression?
is it DOHC?
maf or map?
if things seem to be lookg good i'm gonna go search a junk yard to find one for a couple hundred...i hope...
oh yeah and what about the motor mounts? how do those line up? will it need a lot of work to put in?
I just cant understand why we always say just boost the beta, and nobody does it, and if they do, they keep pretty little power. Why dont we ever see any 400+ whp tibs in the states? Always some new get rich (power) quick schemes.
wouldn't you rather boost a beta when you know they have 950+ whp betas in korea, how many sonata motors do you know of making 300+ 400+ 600+???
*sigh*...I might as well inform you people, as long as no one does the swap before me. :

You are correct, BlackTibs; you just don't. You know why? Because that Sonata 2.4L engine is the exact mirrored copy of the 4G64 you find in Mitsu Spyders. Now, how many 4G64 have we heard about now...and where do they stand...let's see...ooh...that's right, 600+whp. Granted, you don't hear the 2.4L Sonata engine being boosted, but they are virtually the exact same motor.
And 950+whp Beta? Ummm....yeah, let's try to keep comparisons of boosted Betas in the realm of DRIVABLE. You'll never see anyone daily driving anything that is 600+whp in a Tib (unless someone did an AWD conversion). :

[body]actually ass I didn't tell him anything.. Not that I remeber anyway. Im sure shads not the only one to ever think the 2.4 might be better.....[/body]
I know. I just don't want people doing stuff before me. :

my beta has 91k by the time it ever get's boosted it would me in the 100,xxx
also 2.4L of displacement would be better to boost than 1.8L....higher baseline hp...might have a lower stock compression than the beta? i'm not sure i'm looking into that...but i'm pretty sure i can get a hyundai engine from a junk yard for a couple hundred $
There are other things to ask before swapping such as what is the 2.4 block made of and how much does the 2.4 weigh? Bigger does not always mean better.
If the block is Aluminum, it probably won't hold as much boost as the beta. If it is cast iron, it will probably be much heavier then the Beta and the car will handle like a pig.

There is a replacement for displacement. It is on 2 wheels and 600cc.

Need not worry as he said, I am helping him. And I am old school, I actually research and dont shoot blindly into the dark.
I think I can handle it without a refresher in basic lessons in engine swaps and turboing.
:hmmm::hmmm::hmmm:
its cast iron.
the 2.4 is only 24 pounds heavier.
so these things wont be a problem.
