Default What fits in my 2000 Accent???

I'm trying to replace the engine in my 2000 accent with 1.5L. I was wondering if I can use an engine from a 2001-2002 accent with 1.5L engine? Will this engine fit my car and work with the Tranny/ECU/exhust ect without any modifications? Also, what is the significance of the 8th digit in the VIN#. My engine has "G" as the 8th digit.

Thank you for your input. I'm new to this.

It's a straight swap.

i believe that there is a G engine and a K engine. It was explained to me that many cars have multiple engines of the same displacement, and are almost identical, but may have been produced in different plants, at different times, or have a slight modification, like extra bolts or brackets.

for the most part though, i think they are all the same?

8th digit is engine type

G means:
1495 cc SOHC 4cly, Accent, 2000-

there's about 12 letters for engine types.
