I am new to the forums but I am not new to turbo cars, I just sold a 1996 Talon Tsi and also have an 04 SRT-4 with a big turbo. I did a search and see they are putting the Mitsu turbo motor in the older hyundais but nothing newer than 96? I really like this little turd I picked up and was wondering if the 4g63 would fit into it? Motor/tranny mounts need to be custom? I really want to get as much power as easily as possible out of this car but I do not like the price tags I see on the turbo kits available, also the motor in the car now has over 130k miles on it so I doubt it would handle anything as far as boost goes. Current motor is the 1.6, manual tranny. Thanks!!

well sure it will fit.. but its going to be ALL custom made.
You could stay all hyundai and get a 2.0l from an elantra or a tib and do whats called the Beta swap. this site is full of info. Then turbo the 2.0 (which is an upgraded copy of the 4g) and call it good with all hyundai components.

It'll be all custom, because, as I'm sure you noticed: The engine is on the opposite side of the bay.
So sure, with enough money you can do anything....but why not take the easy route? Beta engine for $500, one fabricated motor mount, some fuel management wiring, and get a >30% increase in power.
You can always add a turbo later when the price doesn't scare you.
The 4G63 swap on a pre-96 elantra is a hell of alot easier. That thing is a mitz with a hyundai badge on it. After 96 it can be done just like any other swap when you have the room. It just takes more work.

Sounds like an insane enough idea to try once I have another daily driver. I would go Evo 8 or 9 tho.
The 4g63 is bulletproof and has 1000% more aftermarket support. All wheel drive 500 horse
Hyundai? Unsuspecting Corvettes, here I come.
Seriously though that would be a hell of a lot
of fab work, especially to go all wheel drive. Anything is possible with a welding machine, a torch and time.

I bought a Hyundai because it was what I could afford. I tried to kill it to give myself an excuse to go buy a 350Z or S2000. It still won't DIE! It dosen't stop for shit, it handles like I'm driving in a giant vat of pudding, it dosen't have enough power for my 90 year okd grandmother, but I can't kill it.

if one knows how to use your welding machine and torch properly that can be a source of money
