Yesterday Hyundai unveiled their new flagship sedan, the Azera. On Thursday in New York , the Korean carmaker unveiled their new entry-level Accent.
Bob Cosmai, president and CEO of Hyundai told TCC earlier this morning: "We believe consumers will once again embrace this new Accent with its segment-leading standard safety features, increased interior space, and content that is typically not available in this segment, all of which should accelerate this new model to the front of the pack."
With great styling and crisp modern lines, the new Accent is bigger than the outgoing model: it's longer, wider, and taller than the outgoing '05 model. It comes with a new 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 110 hp and 107 lb-ft torque, coupled to a five-speed manual or an optional four-speed automatic tranny.
Standard equipment includes six airbags. And of course, the new Accent comes equipped with Hyundai's limited powertrain coverage of 10 years or 100,000 miles, plus their limited bumper-to-bumper coverage for five years or 60,000 miles, plus their 24-hour roadside assistance for five years as well.

You have to think (yes sometimes you have to do that)... the Accent was NEVER made to be a performance car. Only an economical, safe, compact, easy to drive grocery car. But we here at HP who owns these cars try to push every little bit out of the car to make it faster.
This car again accomplishes Hyundai's Mission.. a low costing, safe, eco, compact, grocery getter.
But we know we'll get a new batch of people asking every same LC (2) question about their new Accent... and as usual... "Use the Search Function" replys will be in full swing. =/
Just my 5 pesos..

Front looks like Corolla
Back looks like Elantra (what a crap)
Interior looks like Civic sedan.
And they dare to claim have a most powerful motor in its class?? This is dissapointig car..This should fight against civics, corollas, golfs, Mazda 3, Opel Astra but it look like a far cry from these cars and hyundai really need a car to compete in this "hot" class because they offers the most value to the people. Corolla would be far better choise than this, more room, better driving, more comfort, interior noise low etc. and it is really just a corolla.
With this kind of junk Hyundai will never rise to a car maker that can be taken seriously. Where are the engines btw? Yeah VW Polo is more attractive than this, how laughable.
They say it's a little roomier than LC2 but hey what's wrong? Golf mk5 offers much more space than this..Is this really a little car like VW polo or something?
I'd like to hear a bit more those "features" what aren't typically offered in this car class like Hyundai claims. Seriously, is it a gear knob which has a Hyundai emblem on it? Yeah that kind of feature the corolla doesn't have, what a pity.

If you didn't have your car classes confused you wouldn't be so pissed off.
The Accent is in the same class as the Echo, not the Corolla. The Corolla and Civic are in the Elantras class.

Just remember that we in Canada might get the new Accent in different body styles than the US so there is still hope that you can buy a new 2 door Accent hatchback.
