Default Here it is, The Hyundai RWD Coupe

Spy Shots: Hyundai's RWD Coupe! - Autoblog
Quote:
Hyundai is about to be a very hot brand, and the biggest log on the fire will be its upcoming rear-wheel-drive BH platform that will spawn the Genesis luxury sedan, a long-wheelbase Genesis model, a Kia version of the Genesis, a possible pickup, and a groundbreaking (for Hyundai) rear-wheel-drive coupe that we previewed with a rendering last month. Like all the BH variants, the RWD coupe from Hyundai will be available with Hyundai's new Tau V8 that's capable of producing well over 300 horsepower. Well kiss our grits, but somebody actually found a development mule of the rear-wheel-drive coupe being loaded (or unloaded) at port somewhere in the world.

We've found countless people out there referring to this car as the 2009 Tiburon. It certainly well could be, but we know of no hard evidence that Hyundai will actually move the Tib upmarket by transferring the name to this RWD coupe. In fact, we don't think it's a smart idea at all, as the Tiburon name doesn't have the upmarket cachet to go up against the likes of other entry-level luxury sport coupes like the Infiniti G37 and BMW 335i coupe (Wow, did we just say that?). Plus, we doubt Hyundai's myopic desire to one day be a full-line automaker would allow it to abandon the front-wheel drive coupe segment altogether.

We're actually surprised how similar this development looks to the rendering produced for Winding Road. Of course, the covering obscures the view, but one can definitely see similarities, especially in the car's C-pillar. The gallery also includes some interior shots, which reveal a snug ****pit that's definitely driver oriented in the layout of its controls.

Armed with these images, we have to ask, how is Hyundai's coupe shaping up? If it arrives on our shores as a true G37 competitor for the price of a Mustang, then Hyundai could have a big hit on its hands.

I spy a turbo

Ford makes a V8 FR car?

Looks way to similar for my liking though with the espionage-camo it's hard to tell. I hate to be a nay sayer but it's not going to happen as far as i'm concerned. Hyundai will water down the production model just like they did with the Accent SR.

I think it will be great, and quite possibly my next car.

LOVE that it has a manual tranny too!

Being very satisfied with hyundai's present offering of RWD cars, I would instantly buy that!! (After I graduate from U anyways)

I'd settle for a base model with the biggest engine. Just the car, a 300 Hp engine, and me!

Even if it wont come with 300 ponies, and seeing how the azera has 268 i cant see hyundai not giving that much power to the people... it has a stick, and its RWD. Its going to be fun. Lots of fun.

Just think of 4-cam 48 valve v-8 screaming with a nice open intake. Gods... maybe they put twin throttle bodies..

Im in love already. Im going to start saving my money now.

EDIT: Did anyone go to the autoblog site and see the pics of the engine bay? There is a FACTORY TURBO'D AND INTERCOOLED BETA!!

WOO! Next step Elantra SR, or Tiburon SR. Come on Hyundai.. turbo the friggen beta in something else!

The RWD Coupe will coem with two options

A baseline V6
And a V8

Most professional car reviewers are bettign that it'll come with somewhere in the range of 350HP. But no Manual Trans. Auto with a Shifttronic shifter.

Okie this car looks like a Transverse 4cyl turbo. my reson are as follows

1) there is a Thick Black pipe that looks like a Radiator Pipe, but why is it coming from the Where the exhaust manifold sits?

2) Also look where the Airbox is and where does the Intake Pipe From the Airbox go?(to the Compressor side of the Turbo. as per normal)

3a) ook at the Other thick radiator Pipe? it goes into the Throttel Body on the Right(TB is not in the normal Postition cos motor is transverse)

3b) you can see the Thinner Radaitor pipe running next to the Fuse Box!

4) It looks like there are 4 Coil Packs Ontop of the Motor(like BMW use) hence it looks 4cyl to me

5) Transverse motor = RWD

what do you guys think?

I think you're confused. A Transverse motor is one where the crank goes side to side. The majority of FWD cars have transverse motors. RWD cars (like this spy shot) have longitudinal mounted motor (crank goes front to back).

Transverse motor = FWD
Longitudinal motor = RWD (Usually. There are some exceptions).
