I've seen some badly rusted ones around here... the body panels are starting to peel off from the frame, like Aerostars' lower door panels and rocker panels.

In any case, you'd never see me drive one of those...

Volvo's are wonderful cars. Ford has really helped them enter into a much different consumer segment than where they were before, especially in terms of overall design and performance. They are now a near-luxury brand, instead of the right-angles-only cars they used to be. They're still very boxy cars...but in a REALLY sexy way. Those S60's are some of my favorite cars on the road...especially the S60-R *drools*.

i like the "switchgear plate" on some of their models..

also the smooth satin ball shift nob is a stylish feature too.

i applaud volvo's history for using turbocharger's instead of CC's in it's lineup..

and of course they're an icon for safety

Mazda Won LeMans.... still waiting for hyundai to do some kind of racing again... and maybe win something.

Ford kinda helped hyundai out... they gave hyundai the cortina to build.
Ford didnt' really help Hyundai much. Ford turned Anarchy towards them and Hyundai dumped them.

???? Vovlo has always excellent cars even before the take over by Ford. Ford has not helped Volvo at all, Volvo is still run as an independant company.. Look up the original V70Rs, 850Ts if you want to talk about pre ford performance. Ford GETs platforms from Volvo along with design ideas.

Ford couldn't make a good car when they took Volvo over and you know what THEY still can't

Yes, they always have been very reliable, extremely safe, and quite quick cars. But have you sat in an old Volvo? Today's Volvos are much more oriented towards the near-luxury segment, rather than the mid-sedan segment they used to be.

what some of you are not getting is that Ford makes "Battery" cars. You all think that because they dont last that long or get problems that they suck...thats what they want. What happens to your toothbrush after you use it everyday? Or the batteries you bought for your cd player? They all wear out and you have to buy more right?. Now in Fords case they wear out soonerthan most cars. In my opinion it's smart, the more cars wear out sooner the more people will get another car that much sooner. Not only did they INVENT the model production car but they have been around and have had MANY cars that last forever that they now have a die hard group that still buys from them. Only problem is the younger people they are pushing away that when we are all older wilkl not look so highly at them as our grandparents or parents. Just my 2 cents.

I've driven serveral old Volvos and own an S60 T5. The interior in the S60 pretty much feel like the older V70s.

But you are right they are near luxury these days. I passed by my dealer a few days ago and noticed a lot of Mercedes trade in's sitting in the used car lot

Thats sad thinking.. because do you think those people that bought Fords will buy another Ford after 3-4 years? Today I worked on a 2002 Focus and it was ready for the scrap heap.

Ford should stick to making trucks.
