I found one of those touchless car wash places. I refuse to take it to any old car wash since my car is black and ive taken it to a car wash many times and I have tons of tiny surface scrathes & swirls and i dont wanna introduce more to the paint. The place I have found uses only soap & water to wash the car, no bristles, brushes etc.. Just jets of hot water & soap, they even shoot water under the car to clean out salt etc.. I take my car here about 2times a month, even though its dirty the next day I dont want all that road salt and water accumilating on my car. So thats what I do, and in the summer I detail it about once a month with a ton of crap I spent way too much money on this past summer (waxes,polishes,microfibertowels,etc..) :
I commute on average 50miles a day. My driveway is 7/10 of a mile of gravel and dirt and filled with potholes. If it's moist out its muddy, if it's dry I'm drivin through the desert.
Either way the sides of my car (even with mud flaps) get really dirty after one or two trips to the mailbox or post office. So, about every other day, I give my car a 'sponge bath'.
I spary the entire car down with the hose, then use an 8" squegee ($1 at dollar store) and work my way from top to bottom. It takes about 3 minutes to do the entire car. The car isn't spotless, but it gets the salt, de-icying fluid, dirt, tar, and all the rest of the big stuff off.
Then once a week (in the winter) I do a wash with soap and wheel cleaner, paying attention to detail places. Also, make sure to wipe down the door jams and door scuff every once in a while.

Whoaa man you sqeegie your entire car you mean !!
Holy crap your gona end up scracting it to pieces if you keep that up. Just rise it off and take it for a spin or somthing to dry it off, all that stuff is gona mess up the paint if your just pressing it into the paint basically.
I'm not scrubbin the car clean, just wiping it down with the sponge side of the squegee, I use the plastic side only on the windows, sorry about the confusion there.
My squegee has two sides, one with a sponge, and the other with the plastic water 'scraper'. I really only use the sponge side, the other side is for the mirrors and front windshield to prevent water spots.
:nervous:
