I am looking at getting some 17" Maxxim Tequila polished rims. How do I keep them looking nice and polished? Are there certain products I should get or just wipe them down with some Mothers metal polish?

Here is a link to what the rims look like. Does anybody know how to keep polished rims looking nice and... polished? do they demand a lot of cleaning and is there anything I can apply to them to protect the finish?

My dad has polished rims on his Maxima. He uses McGuires wheel spray when he washes the car, then usually at least once a month I know he uses Eagle One Mag Aluminum polish to really shine 'um up. He's had the wheels since '99 when he got the car, and the wheels still glisten like new.
My chrome wheels were looking pretty good just using Hot Rims Wheel Cleaner or Castrol Super Clean wheel cleaner. But after I got back from a 600 mile drive... (Through the cascades, desert, and Walla Walla city streets, then back)...my front wheels looked okay, not too dirty, but the rear wheels were disgusting.
Well...I used my normal cleaner and buff the wheels lightly, but there were still serious spots and problems, so I tried something new....it's called "Mothers Chrome Polish" and I got a bottle of it for $3 at W-M.
It works on all sorts of stuff that has chrome. All you do is clean the wheels, apply the chrome polish rubbing it thoroughly on the surface, then let it dry to a haze, and finally wipe the haze away with a clean cloth or towel.
It worked very well on my wheels, and I plan on doing another application as soon as I get a break in the weather (7 day rain system surge just began in the NW [finally!!!]).
If I can I will have pics of it up on my website with details on the products I used.
--Hope this helps a little.
TIP: Just go to the store and read the backs of all of the wheel cleaners and polishes.

I have heard from several people that Mothers is the stuff to use. I have some Mothers products, but I wanted to make sure I got something that would protect the "polished" rims without hurting them or taking the polish look out of them.
and +ANTI+ . . I believe what dweet was saying about brakes was that when you use brakes, they give off brake dust, which is what usually causes your rims to get so dirty so fast. I was told to get carbon fiber pads (or carbon pads, don't remember) to prevent this (can anybody verify?)

once you get them make sure they are clean and as shiny as can be then put a coat or two of wax on it. use good wax like meguiars. then wipe off. it'll be alot easier to clean them next time and keep them cleaner for a little longer.
