i don't trust car washes, but if you insist on it try to find a brushless car wash and you *should* be fine. alot of gas stations now have brushless ones so check them out.

Suck it up, get out there and wash that car.

If you had a power washer you could blast the dirt off in a few minutes time and not freeze. Then again, if you got cold your girl could always warm you up a bit.

Dani...there's a couple of things you have to worry about with your car.

1) You kit hangs kind of low, so you take a great risk of going through a carwash and getting your kit ripped off from underneath, or you getting hung up half way through the car wash. Definitly not a fun thing to happen.

2) If you can make it through a car wash ok, then it's still a bad idea because of the brushes. Most car washes use stiff bristles on the brushes and it puts small microscopic scratches in your paint that over time, makes your paint look like crap. The only best thing to do is to go through a brushless car wash like it was mentioned above.

3) Go to a hand wash car wash where you hold the the spray gun and you blast the dirt off. Just wear gloves and a good jacket when doing it because it's still cold when you do things that way. But not as bad as if you were out in your driveway doing it by hand yourself.

4) Do it by hand. Just get a bucket of hot soapy water and when your hands get cold from washing, stick them in the hot water. *lol* And use gloves when you dry the car with a towel. That way you'll stay nice and warm.

Good luck....

not sure where you live Dani, but we have plenty of self car washes (the quarter machines) that have power washers and brushes that you use yourself to clean the car. I usually go to one of those, spray it down with 25 cents, then use a wash cloth to get all the loose dirt off, then use 25 cents and the foam brush, then use the wash cloth again, then rinse it with 25 or 50 cents. I can usually wash my car for $1-$2.

By the way... I'm really wanting those speedhut gauges you were getting the group buy together for. What is up with it? How many people have said they want them and when we going to get them?? I've IMed you and e-mailed you numerous times without a response.

not sure about the states but im guessing its the same but most
car washes use 'cheap' soap and its main function is to remove
dirt but unfortunately they frequently contain high levels of
ammonia which will strip the wax off your car and eventually
your car will look dull - speaking from experience.
get a hot bucket of water and get the hel out there u wuss.
i live in ireland and its rarely warm outside when i wash mine,
thats assuming its stopped raining for a change!!!

if you have to... and i say have to....

go to the car wash and use the soap in the spray. spray it down a couple of time with the soap and high pressure rinse. that way no brush will come in contact with the car.

right after that take it home (garage if you have one) and put a coat of wax on it. so that way next time it'll be easier to come off if you need to go to the wash again.

hopefully your paint is good and it wont come off with the spray

I think part of Dani's problem is that IT'S FARKING COLD OUTSIDE!!!!! *LOL* Or did some of you fail to notice that part.

well if you do it at a car wash with a sprayer it'll only take like 10 min.

doing it at home by yourself in the cold with your hand would take at least 45-1hour

i still stick with my opinion :chinese:
