Default question on brand quality...

for a while now, ive been thinking of getting new wheels/tires for my accent GL in the spring. im currently planning to get 15's with the 195/50/15.........and after looking at i dont know how many different pages for wheels (tirerack, discount tire, dedicated brand sites, etc), ive kinda decided that i dont need to spend a G on wheels and tires ....but the 13 steelies arent workin for me at all....except in the snow
i keep going back to a particular style/brand that i like, and i have no idea about the price, but easily under a hundred bucks a pop.....much less than that i assume

anyone know anything about the quality of Z-racing wheels. yes, i know it is a sears brand......but anyone know anything about them . i see them all over the place, but thats not why i want them....i want them because i like the way the Z-Racing type 42 wheels look (kinda looks like a rip off of a pair of BBS's, or the ones on the WRC style accent on the SR store page.....sortof)

anyhow, stylewise and pricewise, i think these are the best ones for me..............but only if theyre actually worth even putting on a car.......someone please let me know what you know about them

thanks
chris

Z-Racing series 42

They're probably not bad wheels... if you're doing it mainly for looks, then it shouldn't be a problem. They won't be light, as lightweight wheels are not cheap.
They're probably similar in quality to American Racing wheels, which I see everywhere, so they can't be bad.
Honestly, you can go out and spend upwards of $1,000 on wheels and tires (or just wheels, in some cases!!) but for street driving, unless you're really hardcore into showing your car, I don't think spending that much is worth it.
If you like the looks and the price, then go for it.
The one thing I would recommend NOT being cheap on is tires. Do some research on Tire Rack and look at the reviews and surveys before you decide what tires to buy.

thanks for your reply, i figured the wheels couldnt really be junk because theyre all over the place, but then again ....:hmmm: never know.....but im not ever really planning to make my accent a show car, or a speed car for that matter......my only goal is to make it a ME car....its all for me. i just want to take my entry level car which already has a bit of a stylish look to it, and just complete that goal with a few sharp touches here and there. i just think these wheels would set my silver accent off real well, but before buying them, wanted to get some 2nd opinions.

on all past cars, which were always "couple hundred dollar beaters", i never sank big money into wheels" but if im gonna have this car for a while, and i wanna keep it looking nice.....then i dont plan to get the offbrand specials......its worth it to me to take the money and sink it into a set of wheels that are worth having, not sure what tires id go with just yet.....but when the time comes.....my homework will be done

thanks again
chris

You could always look for used rims which are in good cond. which fit your car. This may take awhile longer but would save you money, just make sure your getting wheels which have not been
significatly damaged. The advantage to this is you may find quality brands of rims for good $.

that's true..........but in all my searching, with my car in mind, i have 3 sets in mind that i like.....and its these z racing 42's, which are the closest to my realistic spending range, and if i happen to find a great deal, i also like the mille miglia spiders, and the mille miglia evo's , but we'll see......i kinda like seeing money in my bank account too much

Hey man I got my rims at pepboys for $50 each. Im not embrassed to say it either, I like how they look on my car and many people have given me compliments on em too. (check my profile for a pic of them on my car). They were cheap cause the manager told me they overstocked them & needed to get rid of em ( coulda been a bullcrap lie but I didnt care). Wheels & tires altogether cost me $500, which isnt bad at all, I didnt get perrellis or any other super expensive tires, I got the store brand which actually suprised me alot. The car handles great and theres a huuuge difference compared to the stock tires. So check out your local strauss or pepboys they have a nice selection and the prices arent expensive. If you think about it a speedshop will probably usually make you pay more since there privatly owned and have rent bills along with everything else to pay. A large company like mavis or pepboys buys thier stock is bulk so its cheaper for them & you. Take your time and dont settle make sure you like what your paying for. :

hey, i remember your car now, i checked out those pics a while back when you posted em, and i definitely like those rims. nice lookin....not too flashy, not too plain....50 bucks a pop huh? not bad at all....i might have to keep that in mind....im lookin for something that will basically blend in with the car, not stick out (as in, id like to have the rims be the same color as the silver, not necessarily shinier or anyting...know what i mean?). anyhow, thanks for the tip also, that pic gives me a good reference of what the car will look like with 15's. i always wonder if theyll look too big and out of place or if it magnifies the impression of a large fender gap..........you car's not lowered right? it doesnt look it, but just to be sure.........

No way man I would say 15" is ideal for the car. Yeah 16" or maybe even 17" looks awesome, but your gona have problems with fender rubbing and all that other stuff. With the 15" on it handles great, and makes the car look so much more cooler, believe me since our cars are kinda on the small side already it looks bigger than a 15" rim. Its like an illusion or somthing haha. No at the moment my car isnt lowered I just slapped on new wheels & tires. Alot of ppl have said it needs to be lowered but at the moment I dont mind how it looks really, its not like super high I guess I could lower it about an inch but I can wait its not somthing thats on my list for now. But yea youd never guess they were only $50 tons of people have given me lots of good compliments on how it makes the car look nicer etc. Good luck with your new tires & rims, remember ask away for help theres a ton of us here to give u a hand.
