Ok guys i have black side molding on my car. Should i paint it red to match the car. Should i take them off completly. Should i just leave em black. Also should i paint my side mirrors red also.
Now another question.....Are the side moldings bolted/clipped in or are they just stuck there with double sided tape or something like that?
I'm not gonna do this anytime soon. just curious as to what you all would say.
thanks8D

yea, i would...matched side moldings look better imho...so do matched side mirrors...i think they are held together by some type of double sided tape and bolts...i might be wrong tho.
don't forget to match the door handles too. Although you will need to be careful about scratching it with keys and rings once you do, it will look dumb if you do the other things and not the door handles.

There is a replacement for displacement. It is on 2 wheels and 600cc.
Cleaner appearance, sleeker lines, and overall better looks. Like everyone else said though, be sure to paint the mirrors and handles too so that everything matches. :

the moldings are held in by little plastic square pop-tabs.....the tapered ends go into square holes in the side of your car, and then they pop into place .......i only know this because my driver side got lightly sideswiped recently, and the very front piece of my molding was snapped off....i need to do someting about that soon.......watch the dealer jack me for the price "oh, we only sell the molding as a full length unit...blah blah blah, major money, blah blah blah" lol

My 2cents: Use red vinyl stickers instead of paint on the mouldings, mirrors, and door handles. If you get any chips or scratches on the vinyl you can just just a blowdryer, peel it of, and put new stuff on. Plus, vinyl is inexpensive.
The mouldings will be easy to do, and seaphoto is right. The mouldings are just held in by little pop-pins, like all of the interior stuff too. You can just pry it off with a screwdriver, but be sure to wrap the part that you are levering against the door panel to keep it from scratching. Then putting it back in may be difficult if you break the pop-pins.
The door handles and mirrors are a little trickier to do with vinyl, but it is possible, i've seen it done. I also plan to do it myself soon. aranoid:
Another suggestion for the stuff, look into using Reflective Red Vinly Sheets. That'd give a sweet look and you can say it's for safety too. :hmmm:

Keep us posted on how you do!

But if you use vinyl, it's not going to be a perfect match.
If you want to shave them completely, that gets expensive. They have to weld all the holes shut and repaint everything. Anywhere from $400-$1000 depending on the shop.
I don't drive a Hyundai (got a Maxima), but I shaved my moldings. They really don't stop dents on your doors so much. Most of the time, when somebody opens their door and hits your car, it's above the molding. Especially with all the SUV's and trucks these days. And most shopping carts hit above the molding too (found out the hard way).
