OK, but back to the start again, How different are the 'Fake' HID's (PIAA etc) from real HID... is the PIA as good?
Also, how much/how hard is a proper HID conversion from stock?

Thats why I posted those links my freind, read them!
All the replacement bulbs do, summed up, is color the standard Halogen bulbs yellow color to a different color (purple, blue, etc). They loose light output by coating them, but make up for this by increasing the wattage of the bulb so it can output more light. The increase of wattage normally frys/melts the OEM harnesses on particualr cars (mostly with 9004/9006/9007 bulbs). The PIAA bulbs are IMHO the best "fake HID" bulbs as they are able to produce more light than the compitition from the coating process they use, resulting in a brighter bulb.

If you also check those links, they have sections on how hard it is to install a HID kit.
They are fairly easy to install, and should take about 30-45 minutes.

The only problem with a lot of the true HID kits is that they do not provide you with a new lamp housing.

The beam pattern will change because the orientation of the OEM filament and the HID arc are different (usually perpendicular).

And they're crazy expensive. Crazy. Maybe I'll fork over 500 when I'm done making my car look slick, and stick with the $80 PIAA Super Plasmas for now. I might pick up a set of those next time I get paid. I've got speakers and an amp to pay for yet.

I can get you a 6000K Visionz HID kit for around $350.00 (some brand SR sells).
Purplish light output and bright. A great deal, and pretty cheap in comparisson.

They're purplish, not blueish? I like the blue/white.

if i was to put 100watt bulbs in, and don't want my lights to blow that quickly, is there anything the dealer can do to adjust the resistors and stuff for the extra power consumption?

I wish I had $$ for real hid's right now. I think ill wait another 2yrs when the prices drop. Right now I have a pair of those apc type white lights. I do see an improvment over stock the road is actually white looking instead of a orangey beigh color. I paid like $20 and havent had a problem yet with them blowing out. If you do decide to get the "cool blue xenox etc.." kind check the wattages, I got 55w and theres no problem. I believe they die quicker when ppl buy the 100w kind cause its too powerful and the filiments burn out quicker.

i we nt to the dealer and they checked the lighting system on the car, they say there's no problem and must be the bulb. i'm using the 12v 55w = 80w bulb, it still burns. probably the winter weather here at -40 affects it.

not that I have the money right now, but how much modin would you need to put HID's on a 01 tib, and do HID's produce more heat than normal halogen or cheapo hiper whites?
