OKAY..A Bunch Of You Asked...So Now I'm Delivering.....

Here's a step by step FAQ on shaving your door handles. This is one of the coolest mods one could do to their ride. It is fairly simple..but if you have no experience with welding, or using fiberglass/bondo...then leave it to the pro's.

First off..buy a good shaved handle kit. I've always used Autoloc with mine and clients rides. They're website is www.autoloc.com I have yet to know anyone to have a kit go bad. It's also very simple to install. If anyone has ever installed their own keyless entry on their cars..then they will DEFINITLY be able to hook everything up. But don't sweat it. The Autoloc kit comes with step by step instructions with pictures. You should be able to follow the instructions quite easily..even if you never hooked anything up like this before. The hardest part is the actual shaving part itself. Hopefully this little tutorial will help out.

<b>Step 1</b>
<img src="http://members.lycos.co.uk/redagt/forums/uploads/post-3-1047623946.jpg">

- When both doors operate correctly, continue with the body work.

- Make a plate out of steel that is the size of the opening or area to be replaced. Square or rectangle shaped plates are the easiest to fit into place.

- Mark the Area to be removed from the door with a felt pen.

<b>Step 2</b>
<img src="http://members.lycos.co.uk/redagt/forums/uploads/post-3-1047623953.jpg"> <img src="http://members.lycos.co.uk/redagt/forums/uploads/post-3-1047623795.jpg">

- Using a Die Grinder, Cut Off Wheel, or similar tool, remove the area to be replaced. Make sure to cut to the inside of your marks.

- Fit Replacement plate into place, trim if necessary. Clamp or hold in place (duct tape works well for this).

<b>Step 3</b>
<img src="http://members.lycos.co.uk/redagt/forums/uploads/post-3-1047623954.jpg">

- Tack weld into place and check for alignment. Adjust if necessary.

- Finish welding Replacement Filler Panel into place. Do Not leave any holes or gaps.

<b>Step 4</b>
<img src="http://members.lycos.co.uk/redagt/forums/uploads/post-3-1047623829.jpg">

- Grind welds flat.

- Apply Plastic Filler and sand to contour.

- Repeat for other door.

- Prime, Sand Primer, and Refinish

<b>PIECE OF CAKE!!!</b> *lol* If anyone has any questions..feel free to ask away! <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

You think it'll be hard to do a shaved handle kit on a Tib, considering how curvy it is?

skidz: you choose the size solenoid depending on the amount of use it will receive, not by what kind of car it is. (i.e. daily driver, weekend car, show car, etc.) If you are going to use the car every day and be opening the doors 10x a day...then you'd want a really heavy duty solenoid that won't burn out. If you are just going this to your show mobile...then there isn't a need to get heavy duty.

Red and Skidz..thanks guys. My original posts had the pics that were hosted on the old FxTreme server. Since FxTreme is no more, the pics were lost as well. But anyway...hope you like my pics. I tried to take pics of the steps as best as I could. Plus, it gives you guys a chance to see some of my work. :

BTW...Red and Skidz...did you guys use this FAQ on your own websites? Just curious because this is pretty old, and I totally forgot about that I had posted this "How To." I know there's a few of my FAQ's wondering around the net on other Hyundai owners' sites. aranoid: :hmmm:

Red's going to have to answer this one. He provided the pics. I just edited your original post. We really have to get the How to section of this site up and running. There are quite a few really good how to's which get 'lost'.

Rob if you need a hand designing this I would gladly help. BTW I'm studying graphic design for web plus I work with on online web company updating the external site, so I got a flare for this kinda stuff.
