A "REAL" Carbon Fiber hood is made of nothing but carbon fiber and resin. There is two molds involved in making the hoods. One mold is of the outside skin of a perfect stock hood. The other mold is the inside skin of the same stock hood. After the carbon fiber is layed into the molds and the resin is applied the two pieces of molded carbon fiber are molded together and everything is then smoothed out and wet sanded and buffed out.
I read this on a carbon fiber hood manufacturers website one time... I will see if I can find it again. It even had pictures.
