there is a little lip around the brim of the inner well and rolling your fenders consists of bending that little lip up. not something people usually take pics of after doing :

Is this something you can do yourself? I just put 17s on myself and they look crazy! but i have rubbing real bad when i have 2 people in the back + my 2 12s and box.. I took out my subs untill i get it fixed.. I was curious on some good methods to doing this myself.. I bought my car to a Perfomance shop and he said hed charge me 100 bucks to do both.. That seems unreasonable when im sure it takes 30-60 mins to do it yourself.. Let me know.. Thanks

It takes considerably longer to do yourself and be prepared to go through a helluva lot of heartache if you crack your paint. I did mine myself, and at first I tried the bat method (like most people suggest) but I found I couldn't get enough leverage on the lip to start bending it. Eventually I decided to use a rubber mallet and a shot bag and started giving it light taps until it started to roll and then I was able to apply more force. It took me a little over 2 hours to do it this way (wheels had to come off) and I was one dirty pile of sweat when I was finished. Unless you're physically strong I don't recommend this method and I suggest you find a shop that charges a little less and has a fender rolling tool at their disposal. You'd be surprised how strenuous it is to hold a 50 lb shot bag over your head with one hand while you swing a 2 lb rubber mallet with the other. Oh yeah, don't try beating on your fenders unless you have a shot bag, unless you planned on repainting anyway.

Well, a shot bag is a leather pouch filled with lead shot (little lead pellets) that metal bangers use in order to disperse the force of the blow so that the steel doens't undergo too much stress. Divers also use shot bags (cloth, not leather) in their weight belts to control their buoyancy in the water too. You probably won't have much luck buying a leather shot bag (I was lucky, I had a friend who does metal work) but you'd probably have little trouble finding one at your local dive shop. Just make sure it's durable, covered in a soft material (so you don't scratch your paint) and try to find one that weighs at least 20 lbs. Like I said though, it'd probably be easier to find a shop to do it for you, even if it does seem a bit expensive.
