Default Paint is orange peeling....what now/?

I painted my dash, same as ive painted my door panels & such, & the 3 main parts of the dash all orange peeled, whereas none of the others have.

How do i fix the orange peel.....or is it better to just leave it until i get it professionally painted, & not worry about it??

Shawn

Depending on how bad it is, you can eliminate orange peel by wet sanding and buffing it out. It's really deep, then the only thing you can do is wet sand it until it's completely smooth, and then re-paint.

Hmmmm...did you forget to sand down the dash before painting it? Prepping it for paint is important!!

It's orange peeling because of a reaction ... what kind of paint are you using ...

If you can find it where you are ... get "SEM - Interior Plastic & vinyl paint"

It works amazing as thats what it's meant for

Got another question, I've noticed that in certain spots my clear coat is starting to erode away. Mainly due to bird droppings. Now seeing as though there are only like 3 spots each one like an inch in diameter, does anybody know of a cheap way to repair? Is there in anything like clear coat touch up? Also does anyone know of a good place to buy touch up paint? I assume the dealer has it, but I dont like paying dealer prices.

Unless birds are pooping on your dash, you are highjacking this post.

As for the original topic...

When I painted my dash, I washed and prepped the dash as much as I could. But I think that in a spot or two I had to re-paint because I don't feel that I got it totally clean. Perhapse there was a little bit of the dash protectant residue. This caused the paint to be repelled from that spot. Nothing I could do about it but clean the wet paint off, sand and try again.
The other theory I have is that you rushed the job. Anything less than a day for the paint is rushing it. Lots of VERY thin coats. Make sure you let it dry before the second coat goes on. When you have the desired coverage and thickness... I suggest you give it lots of coats of clearcoat. This will bring out the colour in the paint and make it nearly as shiny as your exterior.

This technique has worked very well for me.:
