Default the truth about shaving door handles

i have purchased a kit from autoloc quite some time ago and have been very hesitant to install it do to the following reasons.
1-i was told that the springs in the locks would have to be changed
2-price of painting both doors est. 800
3-and most important weather what happens when the winter drops the temp below freezing and the car is a daily driver. Will the soliend freeze up if that doesn't freeze what if the door freezes.

1. shaving door handles isn't a popular mod for daily drivers.
2. not all doors will need springs changed
3. painting - shop around
4. depending on what kit you get, the solenoids may or may not freeze

I agree. Let me just add a few things:

1) Don't know who told you that, but they obviously don't know what they're talking, or have alot of experience shaving handles on multiple types of vehicles.

2) 800 for 2 doors is ALOT of money. Definitly shop around because that price is extremely high.

3) If you're driving your daily driver with shaved handles in the winter, you deserve to be bi</>tch slapped, AND locked out of your car when the temperature gets below freezing.

Get remote start and set the heat up before you get out of the car. That way sh!t'll have thawed out by the time you're ready to go.

I would take the kit....but the only way im doing shaved handles is if i go with suicide doors (yes josh....ill be coming to u for advice/possible work)

I know some people say if u go suicide to only do the driver side......but hell, if im doin it, im doin both.

My actual main reason for wanting suicide doors is to make it easier to get out without nailing my components that r in door pods.

BTW, i live in houston, so i dont really have to worry about my doors freezing shut.

I think when I make my fiberglass doors, I'll have Lexan windows that are bolted on, then I could make a new crazy hinge cause the door will be so light and I can make it Lambo style??? I think its possible. Dont worry about the doors though they'd be a track day bolt on, the doors wouldn't stand a chance for strength on the street. But weird story. I live in so cal right, well I have the handles shaved and have remote start on my manual, when it gets really hot my solenoid on the drivers side door doesn't want to work right. Instead of CLICK/POP its like ....c..lick... no pop? So does all weather suck for this mod or what????

Nope..sorry..close but no cigar. You're thinking of scissor style (Lamborghini style) doors. You can't do them on a tib because of the way the doors and door frames are designed. Do a search, and you'll find quite a bit of threads where I explained in detail why it can't be done.

Heat shouldn't mess with the solenoids. Only cold weather. If it's hesitating and popping the door open, then it has nothing to do with the weather. It's because the solenoid itself is going bad. You want to make sure you have a heavy duty one that works with a daily driver. Anything less, and the soleniods will break VERY easily.
