okay, my kit is supposed to go into the shop tomarrow to get painted. its costing 800$ my man said i just need to drop the kit off and he doesn't need the car, i was in a rush and wasn't thinking strait but don't they need the car? don't they spray the car as well to help blend in the color? i know 800 isn't that cheap but also not that expansive, i don't know if this guy is going to do the right thing, and im supposed to go in the morning please help with some advice thanks
if its $800 without install or anything, its pretty high. No, they dont spray the car along with the kit, if they did that it would be a total repaint price, & that would be alot more money.
Personally, i would leave the car with them, that way they can be 100% positive that the paint matches b4 calling u
When u pick it up, make sure that the paint matches PERFECTLY, i wouldnt accept anything but perfect for $800, & for that $800 they should use damn good paint, & install the kit for u as well.
sorry, for leaving out that is with installing, so you think that price is still high, because i have a little dent on the back fender that he was telling me would cost anyother 200 to fix. so ill make him throw that in. also he said the paint won't total match do to the fiberglass, is that just b/s. should i ask what kind of paint, how many coats of paint, and how many clear coats will be applied. thanks
actually, $800 isnt bad at all for paint + install..are they using dupont paint?
the only reason the paint wouldnt match exactly is if your car had been in an accident and the repaint on the body isnt original. otherwise it should match perfectly w/o any problems.
Also, time changes paint color. What he's gonna do is look up your Hyundai paint code and paint the kit that color. However, if your paint is faded or dulled (which does happen) then no, it won't match perfectly. It has NOTHING to do with the fiberglass. A good shop uses a color based on your actual car color, not what it was when you bought it 5 years ago.
Exactly. A good shop/painter will know how to color buff and match the new paint perfectly, even if you have older paint on the rest of the car. When you pick the car up, make sure it's in the sun and look at it in every angle. If the paint doesn't match...make them fix it.

Hey guys I got a similar question. I'm am about to buy a body kit for my 2000 2dr Accent. I'm getting it for a good price off of ebay. The body kit its self is actually pretty small, I think its just a front and rear lip and some side skirts. But alot smaller than say other body kits i've seen for the accent. Each piece probly has a verticle height of like 2 inches? The manufacture is EGR. I am pretty sure I will just install it myself. Of course the kit will come unpainted.
So I was wondering what is a good price for getting a kit painted. Take into consideration the size of the kit. What kind of prices have you guys paid to paint your kits??
are the bumps completly new bumpers or they attach on? mine are new bumpers and i have seen prices on this site from 400 to around 800 hope this helps a bit
