Default Covering up chrome?

The new Santy is great except for one thing... The base of the transmission selector is plastic chrome which seems to catch the sun and create a nice glare...

Any suggestions on how to minimize it or cover it up without having it look ghetto? I really don't want to tear the car apart just to do it....

Thanks...

Maybe rough it up with a very low grit steel wool or sandpaper. It will look more like brushed metal afterwards prob, & it should take the glare down a bit too.

I just called the dealership... The part is only like $34... I'm going to order one and paint it and then replace it at a later date...
