Default How Could I Get A Chromed Rocker Cover?

Hi all, I own a 99 hyundai excel twincam and i've seen pics of honda civics and supras where their rocker covers are chromed and i was wondering if there was an easy way of doing it to my rocker cover? Would i have to use something to eat away the plastic coating on the cover first or would i just remove it and get it chromed? Are there any downsides to getting the rocker cover chromed (eg. It would overheat the engine bay far more)? Thanx

well, first off, if the cover on your car is like the beta.. it is ALL plastic. That said, you can chrome plastic. They chrome model parts and even the original Lotus Elan (the sixties version) had glassfibre bumpers that were chromed over. It is all a matter of finding a shop willing to do the work... but it will take a GOOD shop to make sure the chrome does not crack and peel the first time you bolt it down. Chrome plating is brittle and does not take to compression stress well.

How much does it cost to chrome something the size of the rocker cover? Would a good job still be reliable? would it be worth doing it for the look i will get? Hey gotspeed13 your link doesn't work.
