Default Pearly white?

Hey guys. I want to do something different with the paint i have right now. There are just so many white cars out there y'know. I thought about body vinyls... uh ghey on a pretty stock car, then i remembered i saw a white early 90's civic in town that was white and had a blue pearl coat on it. That would be pretty sick IMO. What i wanna know is, can you spray the pearl over the factory paint/clear or does it have to have a freshly painted base coat first. If it's just another clear coat to go on top of what i have now I think that would be pretty cheap. (From what i've seen around the board estimates were around $1100. Anyone have some body work/paintbooth expertise and could let me know what's involved? Thanks.

I think the stock pain will need to be wet sanded. Then, the pearl and clear coats can be shot right over it. Check out House of Kolor Blue Ice Pearl. Its expensive, but it looks killer on top of white.

You hit my plans for my tib.. as the dark forest green is a pretty and rather rare colour.. I was going to have mine reshot the same and then add a pearl to it

Yeah the house of kolor is the way to go. I mean what's the point of doing it if it's just gonna look so so. I don't know if i'm going to do this anytime soon. I just wanted to see what my options were. I'll probably drop the beta in or boost the 1.6 before i do something with the paint but as i read in another post, it's better to do it while the paint is still in good shape, right?
