Default respraying rims

My Nippon wheels got messed up in accident and now all of them are starting to chip the black paint off em and its looking nasty so how would I go about respraying them black. I figure id remove all paint with paint remover then take primer then spray em with some dupicolor engine 500 deggree semi-gloss black spray then clear coat them. Do you guys think this will work or have any experience with doing this other then paying mucho money to have them powercoated?

haha forget powercoating I just took a can of dupicolor semi-gloss black 500 degree engine spray paint and light coated my already flat black rims and they look even better now a glossy shinny black only took 2 light spray around the edge and front of rim and looks like the rims are wet like water is on them. either way i'll keep update how it comes out.

Why did you use 500 degree paint? :??:

I mean it won't hurt anything...but it definitely wasn't necessary. I hope you sanded and prepped the wheels first. Otherwise that paint will come off in a couple weeks.

so far so good 1 rim down 2nd one drying now. 500 degree is glossy to start and takes heat good the 1200 is overboard for doing calipers or anything else. The rims dont have digs all over them or anything i used brake cleaner, sprayed with hose, then dryed off hte rim and do very light sprays every half hour so far the 1st rim I did looks better then the day it arrived on my door step from the factory. So we'll see how they last.

i've sprayed a few rims before including my stock wheels..
and it came out pretty good.. havent had any problems with chips yet.. and the finish is nice.. just make sure you let it dry completely before you start driving with them or putting them back on..

yep, I let em dry a good time between the coats, put some light sprays each time, and they have turned out fantastic. Look better then the original flat black coat they came through from the factory. Silver brake calipers with cross/slotted rotors and then new black rims makes the calipers stand right out.
