Default Rim Advice

So i was looking at getting a new set of rims for the beast.

I want bigger rims but also bigger diameter, not enough to totally screw up the speedo, but just a bit.

the only thing is, i really can't picture what would look good on my accent. I'm planning on painting it ebony sometime soon so i was thinking black rims.

i'm not big on tons of spokes and nothing that is all chrome.

i'm asking for a lot but what are you guys riding on and what do you all think looks good?

thanks guys and gals.

So you want to go with a wheel/tire combination that has a larger overall diameter than stock? Why?

Ok, you can do that with any size wheel you pick just by getting taller tires, but with 17" wheels you'll be forced to run a tire that's about 1/2" larger in diameter than stock.

16" wheels are a good option because you can get tires from just under stock diameter on up to whatever larger size you may want.

As far as wheel styles go that's just personal preference. I just got new wheels and I like them:

16" Enkei Or-52

i'm liking those lots, how much did they run you?

the reason i wanted total diameter to be bigger than stock was to give the engine a break on the freeway. i commute on the freeway a lot and i was thinking overall larger diameter wheels would need less rpm to keep me at average speed, but maybe it won't even matter that much, i honstly don't know, never bought rims before.

It also adds rolling resistance, but it is correct that your gearing would be higher so on the highway it may help. For me going from 18's to 16's gained me about 0.5mpg so that indicates the opposite, but I dunno. I don't know how 17's would work for you. A lot of people run 17's and are happy.

Mounted with tires, balanced, siped, and installed they came to about $1150. Wheels alone were something like $130/each.

oh man.. i just want to let you know that i have 17" VOXX RIMS on my accent right now.. i bought it from a friend and it looks great.. the thing looks lowered. .lol.. it runs great too.. i love the sound of the low profile tires! but the only problem is that i cant have too much weight on it.. especially when i hit bumps.. i hear the back tires hitting the fender for half a second.. scares me.. lol..

a friend told me to get coil overs for it with adjustable srpings.. hope i can get that fix..

heres some pics before i got it installed.. ill post pics of it on the rims later on.. im st work right now..
