Default Going flat color

Yes I am with my rd2 tibby. Now I am sanding the car as we speak, question is will I yeild better results if I go down to the base coat or will it be alright to paint over a rough sanded clear coat?

I have my reasons for painting the car.

Now what flat color shall I do...
Flat black, flat white, olive green (military), or fighter jet grey?

Olive green FTW. Gray will look like primer. Flat white will look dumb. Flat black has been done quite a bit.

Going flat is kinda hard...

People give you shit cause they think you can't afford a clear coat, people scratching it and yadda yadda yadda. Why not try going into a matte color with a premixed light protectant? It looks nice, and it protects your paint a bit more.

Yeah I am mainly looking for durabilty so what exatly is matte in relation to flat. I know alot of flat black cars fade to a grey,
I know flat colors seem to absorbe oil and stuff. So tell me more on matte colors because I am having hard time with my search engine with this topic. Can you give me some companies that would sell stuff for matte?

Other color options world be appreciated. I do not have lots of money and I am sick of looking at the failing clear coat and tired of keeping the shine up on the car... and I hate shiny objects (mental thing that goes back to art class in grade school)

Get 3 different shades of flat green and the flat black and paint it camoflouge. Just an idea.

that only looks good if it's done right and only on 4 wheelers in my opinion, not so hot on a korean sports car...

matt, i know i said dark grey earlier, but i'm starting to like the idea of matte olive green. it reminds me of a Gundam or something. i think that's the best of your colour choices.

So... Uhm, flat black looks like blck primer...

Matte black is like the in the middle of a glossy color and a flat color. It's got enough sheen for it to be a little shiny, and it's actually pretty sexy. Go to your local paint shop, and check it out.

Ok thats what i really want is a light sheen. I will ask the hot rodders about paint this weekend. For some reason they always meet on my guard weekends at a grocery store like plaza, with rat rods, hot rods, and muscle cars. I will get some pics. .

If I were to have it gloss I would have to have a very dark brown or a maroon like the old porsche 911's. Do not have the money for all the fancy stuff.
(here is the maroon red color I like on one of my dream cars)

You should do the blackboard chalk paint. ita a matte finish and stands up to the elements. Plus you can draw on your car with chalk whenever you want. FCKIN cool!!! Saw it on a car at a tuner meet few years ago was awesome.
