When I try to accelerate quickly.. say 25% to 75% throttle, the engine will bog and jutter for a second or two then accel. Whats up with this? I have changed my air intake filter and fuel filter and still no help. Tranny is full and in good condition. I seen someone mention the TPS going bad can cause a simliar result. Could this be it? I'm not getting a CEL though.
Thanks
John

Your right. Its the Throttle Positioning Sensor. I had the same problem with my 2000 Elantra. Bring it in. Its covered under warranty.

Yeah sounds like the TPS. Mine did that too in my 98 tiburon. I could make it hesitate for more than 5 seconds and the CEL would come on. Try to find the right rpm at which you can make it hesitate and keep it there if you want the cel to come on.....but i doubt you do. As far as fixing it under warranty you will need to put the stock intake back on or else they will void it.
That sucks about them not replacing it. They should since the TPS is a mechanical failure that can't be damaged unless hit or tampered. Far as where it is, look at your throttle cable(s). They are attached to a circular wheel which is attached to the butterfly. Well on the other side of that butterfly, is a sensor which reads what position the butterfly is at.

funny thing tho.. i have TWO tps sensors, because i bought a stock tib TB and it had one on it (not new though) and i also have my stock one. I just left the tib sensor on the tib TB when i swaped it in.. then i had a cel for the longest time, and a friend said 'hey maybe its a tps, they go bad in my type of car alot' so i put the stock one from my old TB on the new tib TB.. no change really.
so either they're both bad, or its not that!
btw, i have a cone filter, have changed the fuel filter.. uzzled:

Well I bought the TPS for $51. Haven't put it in yet because I rounded one of the screwed out. What interesting is there is a chick i know with the same problem on her tib.. Was thinking about trying the TPS on her car unless I can get a BBTB before then.
