Intake sensors? - Hyundai Performance Forums

Okay well lately I have been thinking about making a custom CAI on a 97 Sonata GL V6 just for fun to see if their are any gains. Well I have been planning it out and stuff but the only problem is the sensors. On the older Sonata's V6 they used a 6g72 (Hyundai known as 6gat) and they didn't use a MAF or MAP sensor. Instead they used a VAF (Velocity Air Flow). Now I know VAF and MAF can't be the same since velocity is how fast and mass is how much. So how would I go about mounting this sensor on the CAI. The sensor is mounted to the cover of the air filter bod and has a honeycomb box with a hollow circular tube next to it. Kind of weird. If you go to hmaservice.com and look at the 97-98 intake systems you'll know what I mean. Any help is much appreciated. Thanx.

I have the four cylinder with a MAS and it sounds exactly how you are discribing. You do need that chunk of sensors though so you'll have to figure out a way to mount it in the end of the CAI. That little chunk of plastic = $$$$.

Dang...that is poop and makes it a lot harder to work around.

I know - it's why I haven't attempted it yet. I think it's workable as long as you have a wide enough filter...
