Default Blue exhaust smoke ... Help

Well.. i guess i've run my lil scoupe a bit too hard... experience a lil power loss .. lil less gass mileage..... oil consumption about 1/2 a quart every 500 miles and blue smoke......the smoke is mainly when i start the car....and when i'm shifting gears...... anyways... .. I really REALLY dont believe additives work..but i was wandering .....is there 1 out there that actually does work that will seal up my oil loss..and keep the smoke away ! ... ...or am i stuck tearing the engine down and changing out the rings/seals .... i have another engine in the garage..just waiting to be put in... but i dont quite want to remove this 1 from the car yet...i am very very short on time .. and money for that matter

thanks for the suggestions

I dont want to swap the good engine unless i absolutely have 2.... i dont have the money to pay my mechanic to do the swap... i dont have the time to wait for it to be done..and i Really dont have the time to do it myself.....i've heard a few praises on different additives...but u can never go by what you read on a label..or see on a commercial... so i was just curious to see if anybody has really ever had any luck with any certain additive to minimize my oil consumption...

Swapping is easy. You need a day and a engine hoist (and a set of tools) a boddy would'nt be a bad Idea either.

Try LUCAS oil stabilizer. It made my Pony engine with 310,000 KM's pass emissions... it burned oil too!

I can bet my left nut your valve seals are leaking. Do a compression test w/oil and wo/oil.

You could eat it... umm I dunno. I know those motors... besides, even if i'm wrong, you only use 1 testicle most of the time...

wait you said blue smoke.... you've 1) warped your head 2) blown the H gasklet.

Did you overheat it recently?

OMG blue smoke is for oil never mind

BTW today I started one of my Pony's (not started in 4 days) and this awful smoke came out of it. I had to move it to another spot, and had to walk backl to get my other car, and I walked through the exhausted smoke. OMG it smelt like burning tyres!! WTF!!! What's wrong!! I klnow it burns coolant on occasion, but... what teh hell it doesen't smell like rubber!!:dead:

Try "Restore". If that stuff doesn't work, nothing short of new rings will fix your problem.

If you tend to bounce off of the limiter often or you started putting the hammer down during the break-in period it's a safe bet that it's the rings that have been nuked to hell and back. Sounds like it's time for a rebuild, but before that, check compression and read the plugs, and see if the PCV valve is still working, Good luck man!
