Default Spark Plug Removal HELP!!!

OK I decied to change my plugs and wires on my 2000 Tiburon for the first time.
I got the cover off poped out the first wire and looked down and saw that the spark plug was pretty damn far down. I looked at the spark plug socket that I had and realized that it wouldn't reach my plug. So I put 2 of the socket extensions on it and reached in and loosened the plug. I got it loose and pulled it out. But all that came out was the socked wrench and the attachments. The spark plug socket and the plug are sitting in my engine right now as we speak.

What the Hell am I gonna do?

I'm gonna go out there and try to get it out somehow, but in the future, what do you use to get the spark plugs out?

Thanks,

~H~A~Z~E~

that or it might be stuck. Reattach everything and wiggle as you're pulling it out. If that doesn't work. Go to an automotive supply store and get a pair of super long needle nose pliers. 8D

OK, I got it out with long needlenose pliers. I had to go through the socket and grab the spark plug with the pliers. There was something wrong with the socket, so I went to the auto parts store and bought a new one with a swivel head. The swivel head adds about an inch or so, so I only had to use 1 extension.

Thanks,

If you plan on doing your own maintenance you need the right tools.

Buy a spark plug socket wrench.

It's got a little foam on the inside of the socket to keep the sparkplug snug so you can pull it out.

Plus it's one complete tool so there's nothing that could come apart.

Be very careful when you put the new plugs back in. Aluminum heads are very easy to strip. When you put the plug back in it should go in smoothly. If you are feeling resistance you might be cross threading the plug. That is something that you do not want or small piecec of aluminum could fall into the engine.

Also make sure that they are screwed in tight enough, do not over tighten them though. I had a friend who did not tighten his plugs enough and one of them came loose and fell out.

Good luck!

Use a torque wrench folks, it's the only way to be sure with alunimum heads. Way too easy to strip.
