Default power surges???

hey i have a bit of a problem i have a 99 accent and i seem to be getting some sort or power surge just out of no were my stereo will stop playing and all my lights go really bright my car slowes right down and i go through a set of headlights on a weekly basis any idea's what it could be i would take it in to the dealership but there not fans of tunned hyundai's down there so i would like to avoid it as much as possible!! thanks!

Your alternator is propably about to die. Time to pull one from the yard and get ready to remove and reift.

I would agree with Mechanix. There is definately a major problem within your alternator. Or you've just got some major major BOOOOOOOST. Do you have NNNAWWWWZ? LOL, just kidding.

I would get that looked at soon. Too much juice make things go "snap, crackle, pop" Plus you risk electrical fire hazard. :shocked: Keep us updated

Actually, you have a faulty voltage regulator (which is on the alternator - I don't know if the you can replace the just the regulator, but if you had those kind of surges, you may have already fried something.)

It's called a rectifier bro, and it can be replaced. However, it is a better idea to pull an alternator from a yard. I have seen some of these recon'd units fail within 3 weeks. It's a better idea where dependability is concerned to pull one and R&R it.

My nissan had its regulator go out once.. first day at a new school.. went to crank it and the freakin battery exploded... not died.. i mean BOOM.. acid everywere. Luckly had a warrenty on it(bought it used) They fixed it.. but that was a big mess... watch out for that if urs is loseing it regulater.
