Default factory fogs

My tib did not come with fog lights), but I bought the factory fogs from a person online. Is there any easy way going about installing them, or am I going to have to hard-wire them? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

the harness that normally comes is hard wired, there is no easy wiring. You'll need to find a +12v signal that powers off with the ignition ( there are a few in the dash and more in the fuse box ) then run the wires into the dash for the on/off switch, do not use the head light lines for power.

Even though your car didn't come with the fog lights, you should still have the plugs on your wiring harness. Find the plug that matches up to the plug on the lights you just bought. You'll then need to buy a foglight switch from the dealer and remove the "blank" from your dash. Find the plug behind the dash and plug in the switch. Car makers do this because it's easier for them to manufacture one wiring harness for all of the options and put them in every car.

From what I can tell the 97-99 tib was prewired but the 00-01 were only wired if equipped. There are different front harnesses for cars with and without foglights. The dash wiring may be there however.

hey guys, thanks for the replies. I already checked and made sure the wiring harnesses were not already there for adding fogs. I guess there is no easy way doing this. The hardest part is finding fog light harnesses to plug in the back of the fogs. Once I do that, I shouldn't have a problem wiring them. Pep boys wants $15 a harness, and the are not guaranteed to work, and they are also nonreturnable. Its pretty stupid. Thanks again.

Wouldn't he be better off pulling a line off the battery (for power) and using a relay that allows 12 volts when the headlights/running lights are on in conjunction with the dash switch?

Blackout,
One Question to start with, do the factory fogs have cables that end in white 'Plugs'?

If you hunt around under the front of the car, tucked up there somewhere will be the other end of those plugs... They may be well taped up and tucked away, but they should be in there. Behind your dash there is also another 'Plug' to match to the foglight switch.. I8acobra is right, most cars share a common loom, with spare bits just tucked up out of the way when not required, or else they would have to have a different loom for every variation...

Have a look at hmaservice

Richard734,
Ok thanks, I'll take a closer look this weekend when I have more time, and get back to you.
