Put the caron level ground and leave the engine off. Turn the steering and observe the wheels. If the wheels dont move but the steering wheel does, that means that the rack bushings have been mutilated by the force of the impact. TOW the car to an authorized workshop and have them do the work. You'll need a lift for this one, or you'll get really filthy from working on the ground. Also check rack ends and tie-rod ends for damage.
