i flew straight into the block on snow on the sidewalk today on a 3 way lane. i was in the middle lane and accelerated too much and swung for 5 seconds, until i ended up sideways... well, body damage, fortunately on ly my license plate is bent.
but i can feel that my wheels are not going staight. 6 guys pushed me out, much thanks to them! and advice i needed snow tire aranoid: they are right! all season sucks. i'll just drive slow from now on. don't try and screw around again ever in the snow.
so i was just wondering... my wheels look straight, but should i bring it to a tire shop to have them take a look at it? my wheel feels slightly right when i am maintaining a straight line. i don't know if it's just me paranoid though.
hey, that sucks. the roads are so crappy, people go 60kmh all the way from spruce grove to edmonton.
did that happen on whitemud?
no body damage right?
you can get snow tires for any size. they just start getting expensive for rims bigger than 15"
i'm know my boss has 18"snow tires on his bmw and 17" on his mercedes

If your steering wheel changed spoke position and/ or started pulling 90% chance that something is bent, on a hyundai is usally the strut or knuckle that gets damaged on side impacts,
AS FOR SNOW TIRES : I took the stock 17 inch off the tib and replaced with p205/55r16 blizzaks and some american racing rims, works good, but not a 4x4

i got an alightment d one today, they said nothing was broken and my wheels are now in good order. and i also asked about 17" snow tires, they are about 300 each. pretty expensive. and they were 215/50/17 i think. will the wider diameter matter much? if i drive slow, just in case i want to get them... which is very unlikely at t hat price.
snow tires in your stock size would work the best, I put 195/55r15 artic alpins on a friends 2000 tib and he is happy with them, wider snow tires do not work as well(think of it as a hydroplaning problem) and if you use stock rims the tire is alot cheaper and will free cash up for real goosd summer tires.
ps the p195/55r15 artic alpin is about $155 canadien

Look at buying steel rims (around $50 each), and mounting your winter tires on that set. They pay for themselves within 2 years when you look at the cost of changing the tires, and possibly rebalancing the wheels, twice a year. No, they don't look as good, but if that is a concern you can always go to Canadian Tire and buy a cheap set of hubcaps to spruce them up a bit.
If you want to save some money, get some studded Hankook tires. I bought mine last year for around $80 Can. each and they work absolutely awesome on snow and ice. Not so good on dry pavement though and they are a little noisy. When the studs are new, on dry pavement you have to give yourself some extra room for braking and you defintely won't hold the corners as well, but you will be amazed at how well they work when the roads are bad.
