Default Sunroof repair?

Hello!

I searched for the answer to this but haven't found one here in the forums. I have '98 Elantra GLS with a stock sunroof that is stuck. Motor wants to move it, but neither it nor the hand crank can do the job. It seems to be stuck on one side. Anyone know where I can find info on fixing this up without having to take it to the dealer?

Thanks in advance!

Try putting some grease along the tracks. Check for debris...and can you pull it to open/close it?

I was at the dealer when a lady with a 2000 Lantra came in...her sunroof was stuck....opening and closing by itself. Kind of funny. Whenever the car was on, the roof would keep opening up and closing non-stop on it own. There was just a problem with the switch.

If you can't fix the problem, take it to a dealer, perhaps it could be under warranty. :ermm:

Might be a good idea to try. i really had to tug an pull to get it within a couple inches of closing. I can't get it any farther in the direction. Same goes for open. But, once it is all the way open, the motor can move it a bit before getting stuck again.
