The higher supreme with the 4g swap's obv. are the only ones that are intelligent here. I think it's pointless to battle about pro's and con's that every car has.
Why would I "piss" myself? In fact the only post's I READ are about swaps. Oh and Turbo's in gen. (Hense All I did was look at these pics and based on what I saw I voiced my opinion)
*Negatives can be tuned <--:nervous: into positives.
*What doesnt kill ya makes you smarter.
I dont choose to learn or condone myself in having skills to buy a muffler and arc weld it to a peice of piping.

I voice my opinion about his setup, and get shunned for it?:hmmm:

My there must be alot of back patting going around.:sleepy:

Yeah well think of the facts:

-Modified stock engine being replaced with V6
-Exhaust made for $30 because I do not need to spend money on an engine that I will be pitching into the garbage.

So why would I waste it?

And it's MIG welded. BTW this is a DYI please stay the FUCK out of my posts.

I never claimed any gains on it. At best it makes 5WHP but will work with the headers and ported head, as well as cam that I am putting into this engine (all less than $60)

nice way to cut you finger off!

why mig.. why not mag? hehe

i just got to shop and bought 2" pipes what was about enough for my project and weld it and fit to car (straight pipe.. no extra turns)

nice story for others.. this is a smart way if you can weld + cheap

at my contry shop build this kind of setup instead buying exhaust for high cash (get 2" straight for less then 200 bucks) and then just buy aftermarket muffler (we skip the cat because cars after ´95 need cat but boys really dont care because with cat you are losing power + cat never works here like they should)

Guy you coul have gotten the ends of your cherry bomb expanded enough to fit over you 2.25" pipe instead of butt welding them on it would have been easier to weld for one, stronger and also you might have been able to put the exhaust on in pieces and clamped it instead. If you paid $20 for that section of pipe I would go back to the shop that sold it to you and smack them with it. The only reason why it should have been $20 is if it were stainless. A note to any DIY's out there, any reputable exhaust shop does not charge for bends, expands or adjusments to pipe, they usually charge for the pipe and if there was several difficult bends or welds involved. Also a hint for future reference if you do a job like this plan it out first before you start cutting, use coat hanger, brazing rod or some other relatively sturdy yet pliable material to map out how you want the exhaust to go. Take these homemade "jigs" to a GOOD exhaust shop usually a privately owned one not Midas, Speedy or Zorro, Sorry to anyone who works at one of these locations but a private shop has less overhead and/or wages to pay and therefore won't rape you for the little stuff. I work at a GOOD exhaust shop and do tons of custom jobs on a regular basis. There is really nothing to doing exhaust. I probably would have done the entire job in about 45 minutes for about $70 cdn, including my labour a new flange hangers and a professional job that wouldn't rattle. I have to admit though you did put a lot of effort into it. Not bad for a driveway job, trust me I've seen a lot worse, you see a lot of duct tape and muffler cement under peoples cars. :devious:

i agree, for a driveway job its good,.......but yeah i'd go to a little muffler shop that works with cash only, they are the best, and they let you help. i like doing my own stuff aswell but unfortuately i dont have a lift so its good to work with a private shop that has all the tools. you should have just bought a bigger cherry bomb to fit over the pipe instead of butting them up. but since your saving money for the swap id say you did the right thing. i did the cherrybomb for a cat too on my old grand am, why not its only $20.
keep us posted on the fix

I'm building an entirely new one at my uncle's shop now, where I have learned the basics of MIG. I allready made an exhaust for my 93 sentra and properly too, all the welds are holding. Be prepared for some serious shit by the end of summer.
