Default tranny oil replacement

hey,
I just got some mobil 1 full sintetic 75w90 gear oil (GL-5), 2QT and put them in my car. can any1 tell me if this oil is any good or should i just get the mt -90 and replace it. I had the same prbl as many others with shifting from 1st to 2nd. It seemed like it did the trick some what in reducing the grinding noise a bit. I wonder if it going to go away or should I just get the mt-90 anyway.. and one more Q what is the recomemded amount of oil to put in the tranny.

Mobil 1 is GL-5. I recommend you replace it with MT-90, which is GL-4.

The Redline MT90 is great, much smoother shifting...

I took the intake and filter off to fill, just used a section of hose from the back of the washing machine to fill it with fluid.

Hello Cobra,
I put in my Tib Castrol Taf-X 75w90 GL4-5
It's a gl5 but a gl4 also... so I think it's good for my tranny??

i'd be getting a GL-5 oil out of the box as soon as possible.
the brass syncro cones are not compatible with GL-5 specs and will be corroded.
unless the packaging on the oil specifically claims to have no problems with brass, then get rid of it.
my car calls for a GL-4 75W-90 but i'm using a 75W-85 in the hunt for better economy.

Make sure the bottle says it's safe for use in trannies with brass synchros.

Actually, you need three. The tranny takes a little more than 2 quarts.
